Realization
Arkangel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Father Adam, won't you see what you have done
You have given all your children to the fire
and to the worm

And we're bleeding
We are Needing
It's a hard fate has befallen our race
Cold wind from Eden blows across my face
And I'm yearning
Oh, I'm burning to be back in the garden
Back in the garden - back in the garden again.

Second Adam, Now I see what you have done
Through Your dying, through Your rising
You've restored the fallen sons
Through your giving
We are living

And, oh, I know You bruised Your heel
when you crushed the serpents head
But You pulled the fangs out of our hearts
Giving Spirit-life instead
And I'm learning
You're returning me back to the Garden
Back to the Garden, back to the Garden again.

Of Late I'm Realizing
That the Garden I'm desiring for is You.

Overall Meaning

The song Realization by Arkangel opens with a reference to the Biblical character of Adam. The lyrics imply that Adam, the father of mankind, has caused great destruction by leading his children to the fire and the worm. These words are symbolic of the torment and pain that humanity has been subjected to since the beginning of time, possibly a reference to the original sin committed by Adam and Eve.

The song then moves on to introduce a second Adam, who through his death and resurrection has redeemed mankind. The lyrics speak of this act of sacrifice as restoring the fallen sons, giving them a new lease of life. The reference to the serpent's head being crushed and the fangs pulled out of the hearts of the people signifies the defeat of evil and the gift of salvation. The chorus speaks of the yearning to return to the original state of innocence, to be back in the garden, free from the darkness and the suffering.

Overall, the song speaks of the realization of the truth, the realization of redemption and the longing to return to the original state of paradise, which is only possible through acceptance of the second Adam, Jesus Christ.
