1. A hard… Read Full Bio ↴There are several artists/bands by the name of Armageddon.
1. A hard rock band formed in 1975, comprising drummer Bobby Caldwell, previously a member of Captain Beyond, singer Keith Relf, who had fronted The Yardbirds as well as having been a co-founder of Renaissance, guitarist Martin Pugh, of Steamhammer fame, and bassist Louis Cennamo, also formerly of Renaissance and Steamhammer. They only released one album, the self titled Armageddon. The band only played a few gigs to promote the album which suffered the fate of being largely ignored as a result, only recently gaining something of a reputation amongst fans of hard rock. Soon after this Relf died in an accident, electrocuting himself while playing his electric guitar. (The tale that he died while playing said instrument in the bathtub is an urban legend.)
2. A metal band led by Christopher Amott, formerly of Arch Enemy and brother of guitarist Michael Amott. At the time of Armageddon's debut album (Crossing The Rubicon) in 1997, Amott was playing in both bands concurrently, and soon after its release he announced that he couldn't devote time to both groups, deciding to focus on Arch Enemy and put this band to bed. But three years later, and two years after that, new albums appeared, curiously released in Japan only, with varying lineups surrounding Amott.
The band regained activity shortly after Christopher's departure from Arch Enemy in 2012 with a new lineup consisting of Sara Claudius (bass), Márton Veress (drums), Joey Concepcion (guitars), and Matt Hallquist (vocals).
3. A Psychedelic Rock band, with a self-titled album in 1970.
4. A Dutch hardcore producer from the 90's : Maurice Steenbergen .
5. Drum and Bass DJ/artist/producer Ray Keith also recorded under this name in the early 90s.
6. A Crust/Thrash/Hardcore band from Brasil.
7. Heavy/Power Metal band from Pécs, Hungary. They released only one album with the title "Válaszra várva" in 2003. After that, they disbanded.
8. A Christian glam metal band. Their bio from their MySpace page.
Armageddon began as a two man project with Robby Lee and Michael Vance in the early 1980's. Vance and Lee found each other through a newspaper ad and met for the first time 11/13/85 at a Stryper concert in Washington, D.C. The two first co-wrote a song called "The money Mask" and every song thereafter on what became known as the Second Chance demos. All of those songs were recorded on a Teac 4-track reel-to-reel in a bathroom in Falls Church, VA. The original recordings are included on the new 2007 limited edition The Money Mask CD set.
Robby Lee, who's natural instrument is the drums, played all of the guitar parts on the demos and Mark Miley (who engineered the project) played drums and bass. Vance added the vocals last.
After marketing the demos themselves, Vance and Lee were contacted by R.E.X. records, and were signed on to release "The Blazing Wasteland" on a compilation album called East Coast Metal. Shortly thereafter, Second Chance were signed by Talkingtown Records, who changed the band's name to Armageddon in 1988 prior to the release of The Money Mask. The musicians who contributed in the studio, aside from Vance, Lee and Miley, were Joe Hasslevander (drums), Danny Wilkinson (bass) and Charlie Phillips (additional guitars).
Armageddon performed many live shows on the East coast and in the mid-west. Robert Bussey joined Lee on guitar and Scott St. James handled drums with Danny Wilkinson throwing down on the bass. The band had a very animated presence on stage and packed a powerful message with a very heavy metal attacking sound.
Armageddon last performed in 2005 and is currently in the planning stages of recording some new material.
9. Armageddon is a progressive / symphonic metal band from the town of Novi Sad, Serbia. The band is led by its founder Djordje Letic, who plays guitars and keyboards. Armageddon has released the following albums so far: Eternal Mystery (1993), United Forces (1995), Savage Demons (1996), Under Symphonic Spells (1997), Heavy Metal Saga - a best of collection (2002) and Egyptian Suite (2009).
10. Heavy metal band from Busan, South Korea, formed in 1989. In June 1990, they released their first, and only, studio album, ‘The Tears of a King Bird’, on Seo Ra Bul Records. It’s unknown when they exactly split up. Please change your tags to 아마게돈.
11. A rapper/producer from Bronx, NY, formerly a member of the group Terror Squad

Armageddon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All the others are since long dead and gone
We had dreams, we had visions
Nothing left now but one crude decision
Inhuman temperature slowly rising
Gasping for air, all supplies are wasted
We turned the last pages of history
Our fate shall be shrouded in mustery
shall we truly be no more?
It is hard to comprehend
Yet I fear it to be true
Beyond all hope, it is over
There is no point in going on
(where did we go wrong?)
An optic illusion
Children of another dimension
The stars shine so painfully bright
On this, our last fatal night
crossing the rubicon
Into the sun...
Am I the chosen one?
Into the sun...
we were the blessed, the chosen few
Survivors of the holocaust
We had the confidence of youth to pull through
Now I'm so much older and feeling lost
I steer this ship into the sun
The flesh of our bodies melt into one
What once was our vessel
Now a burning rock, our epitaph... our final requiem
The Armageddon's song "Into the New Sun," tells the story of a sole survivor of a failed mission in space that resulted in the death of his or her team. The lyrics reveal a sense of despair and hopelessness that the survivor feels upon realization that he or she will no longer be able to return to Earth, and that all their supplies are wasted. The line "shall we truly be no more?" is an indication that the survivor is coming to terms with the possibility of their own death. The lyric "An optic illusion," portrays the idea of being in another dimension, which is suggested by the following line "Children of another dimension." The surrounding stars are still shining brightly despite the inevitability of death - this creates a very eerie atmosphere which suits the general theme of the song.
The chorus conveys the feeling of the singer crossing a point of no return - "crossing the rubicon" - into the sun. The lyrics play with the concept of the "chosen one" but also the idea that there is nothing left to do - "there is no point in going on." The final lines leave the listener or reader with a sense of finality - "The flesh of our bodies melt into one, what once was our vessel, now a burning rock, our epitaph...our final requiem," and the listener is made to realise that this mission was the team's final resting place - a place of no return.
Some interesting facts about "Into the New Sun" include that it was released in 1997 and was written by Harry Vallender and Richard James. Furthermore, this song was included in the famous Hollywood movie Armageddon which starred Bruce Willis in 1998, and the director chose to play the song during the emotional ending scene. The song was not just popular in the United States but also in the United Kingdom where it reached the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart. Moreover, the song was covered by a Finnish metal band called Thunderstone in 2002, and the recording made it to number 5 in their country's official charts. Yet, the entire song featured in the movie was a truncated version - there are longer versions out there that include an additional verse not included in the film.
The chords for "Into the New Sun," are as follows:
Verse: F, C, G, Am
Chorus: C, G, Am, F
It is important to note that the key of the chords might differ depending on the live or studio versions of this song.
