At the age of eight he was introduced into the world of music in the Escuela de Bellas Artes (School of High Arts) of his native city, later furthering his musical studies in Mexico City. In 1950, at the age of fifteen, he composed his first melody titled Nunca en el Mundo (Never in the World), of which twenty-one versions in different languages have been recorded to date. The following year he began his professional career as a pianist.
He has become even more popular due to the fact that Luis Miguel has taken some of Manzanero's most popular songs and introduced them to new audiences with a modern twist. Manzanero represents the past, present and future of romantic music in Latin America.
After fighting covid 19 he died surrounded by his family in December 2020 at 85 years old.

The song "Parece Que Fue Ayer" by Armando Manzanero is a beautiful love song that expresses the singer's immense happiness in having spent so many years together with his loved one. The opening lines make reference to a moment in time when the couple first met, during springtime. The singer then goes on to express how happy he is for having shared so much of his life with this person, and for having the opportunity to sometimes receive their reprimands. The song’s lyrics convey a sense of gratitude and recognition of how hard it can be to find someone who fits so well into one's life.
The song is composed in a classic bolero style, typical of Latin American romantic music. The melody is slow and smooth, with a subtle rhythm that eases the listener into a state of peacefulness. The lyrics are full of poetry and vivid imagery, making it easy for anyone to picture the scene and understand the emotions being expressed. The words "parece que fue ayer" - which mean "it seems like it was yesterday" - are repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the nature of the passing of time, and how quickly it feels to have elapsed.
Overall, "Parece Que Fue Ayer" is a beautiful ode to romantic love and the timelessness of true happiness. It is a song that speaks to anyone who has ever been in love and understands the value of deep, meaningful connections that can survive the passing of time.
