Shoot that laserbeam shoot that laserbeam
Day of make-believe
Day of make-believe
When you set me free
When you set me free
Always by your side
My love deep and wide
My love deep and wide
Ooh baby baby
Take me to a place where the smart people go
If you tell me how to dress I won't hesitate to show
Now our whole affair is the hottest thing around
Frankly I don't even care if I'm king and you're the clown
Please come back and stay
Please come back and stay
Never walk away
Never walk away
Satisfy my dream
Satisfy my dream
Shoot that laserbeam
Shoot that laserbeam
Ooh baby baby
Maybe I'm a fool tryin' hard to play it cool
Won't you give me some advice how to shake off your disguise
Match a heart of gold guess I'm livin' in a dream
Now heart to heart we could explode and shoot that laserbeam
Day of make-believe

Shoot that laserbeam
"Shoot That Laserbeam" by Army of Lovers is a song that incorporates electronic pop and dance elements, with lyrics that speak about love, fantasy, and science fiction themes. The song begins with the chorus, "Satisfy my dream, satisfy my dream, shoot that laserbeam, shoot that laserbeam," inviting the listener to enter a fantasy world where dreams come true, and futuristic gadgets are at their disposal. The verses describe the singer's desire to be with their lover and explore new worlds together. They sing about wanting to be with someone who can take them to places where "smart people go" and teach them how to dress and act to fit in. They express their willingness to be the clown in the relationship and to follow their lover anywhere, even if it means living in a dream world.
The song's bridge features a mix of French and English lyrics, adding to the futuristic and otherworldly vibe of the song. The dense electronic production and catchy chorus make "Shoot That Laserbeam" memorable and fun. The repetition of "day of make-believe" and "always by your side" cement the idea that this song is about escaping reality and exploring a new world with the one you love. In the end, the singer begs their lover to "please come back and stay," and to satisfy their dreams by shooting that laserbeam again.
