Signed On My Tattoo
Army of Lovers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It’s a wicked game, you’re my deadly drama
Even if I conquer outer space you’ll return the karma.
Every episode it’s another sequel
Since you got me wrapped around your hand, can I be your equal?
(Chorus)
Like thief in the night, my partner in crime,
You’re a Merry-Go-Round, a Sisyphean climb,
Like when you signed your name on, signed on my tattoo.
Déjа vu, déjа vu,
Déjа vu, déjа vu.
(Verse)
Have you read the news?
Did you hear the gossip?
Every page I turn I see your face
For no buy or part see.
(Chorus)
Like thief in the night, my partner in crime,
You make me break all my tabus.
You’re a Merry-Go-Round, a Sisyphean climb,
Like when you signed your name on, signed on my tattoo.
Déjа vu, déjа vu,
Déjа vu, déjа vu.
(Bridge)
It’s a wicked game, you’re my deadly drama,
Even if I conquer outer space you’ll return the karma.
(Chorus)
Like thief in the night, my partner in crime,
You make me break all my tabus.
You’re a Merry-Go-Round, a Sisyphean climb,
Like when you signed your name on, signed on my tattoo.
Déjа vu, déjа vu,
Déjа vu, déjа vu.
The song "Signed On My Tattoo" by Army of Lovers speaks about the relationship between two people who are deeply attracted to each other yet the obsessive nature of their love can cause harm. The song refers to their love as a wicked game and a deadly drama that is like a never-ending story. The singer describes being wrapped around the hand of their partner and asking if they can be equals even though the partner seems to have all the control. The chorus likens their relationship to being partners in crime, breaking taboos, and a never-ending cycle like a Merry-Go-Round or Sisyphean climb.
The bridge of the song is particularly intriguing. It's the only part of the song that is not in English, which adds to the mysterious and dreamlike qualities of the song. The text in the bridge hints at a taboo relationship between siblings, which is further emphasized by the line "cannibalism of love between brother and sister is the ultimate taboo." The bridge also talks about the concept of tattoos and how they can be a permanent way of expressing love for someone. In conclusion, the song is about the obsessive and intense love between two people, likened to a wicked game that is both irresistible and dangerous.
