Zij zei me lachend "hallo"
Ik dacht meteen door die lach
O, wat een schat is dat
Voordat we 't goed en wel wisten
Lagen we samen aan 't strand
Amor keek lachend naar mij
Julie
Julie
Een zomerliefde gaat zo gauw weer voorbij
Juli, de maand voor verliefden
Bracht ook de liefde voor mij
'k Vond 't alleen nog maar fijn
Als ik bij haar kon zijn
Nooit meer vergeet ik die kussen
Nooit meer vergeet ik haar lach
Ik droomde een droom van de lucht
Samen met Julie
Julie
Julie
Een zomerliefde gaat zo gauw weer voorbij
Ik loop vaak uren te dromen
Sta heel alleen aan 't strand
Is 't voor altijd voorbij?
Was 't een droom van mij?
Toch blijf ik stilletjes hopen
Dat, als de zomer weer komt
Ik dat geluk weer beleef
Samen met Julie

The lyrics to Arne Jansen's song "Julie" depict a summer love story that is short-lived but still holds a special place in the singer's heart. In the first verse, he describes meeting Julie on vacation and being instantly taken in by her beautiful smile. The second verse talks about how they quickly became romantic, spending time together on the beach, and falling deeply in love. The chorus talks about how summer love never lasts, reminding Julie and the singer of their inevitable love's end. From there, the singer describes being lost without her, hoping that someday they can reunite again and find happiness in each other's arms.
The song itself is a classic example of the genre of "Summer Love" songs that were popular in the 70s and 80s, emphasizing the fleeting nature of romantic relationships during the warm months of the year. It also has a distinct "Dutch" sound, with country-inspired guitar riffs and Jansen's smooth, emotive vocals.
