And Still the Darkness Comes
Aron Wright Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Stay, how I want to and leave all there behind
Know that no other
will know my heart nor mind
my heart nor mind
And still, the darkness comes

You know how I've loved you
Two lives no greater seam
If you ever wonder
Yes, you're why I'd sing

you're why I'd sing
And still, the darkness comes

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Aron Wright's song And Still the Darkness Comes talk about the desire to stay with someone you love and leave everything else behind. The persona expresses that no one else will ever know their heart or mind like their loved one does. This showcases a deep level of intimacy and trust between the two individuals. However, despite this love they share, darkness still looms. The line "And still, the darkness comes" is a reminder that even in the happiest of moments, sadness and darkness can still persist.

As the song progresses, the persona confesses their love for their partner. They describe their love as a "greater seam," meaning that their two lives have become interwoven like fabric. The persona then tells their loved one that they are the reason why they sing. This line implies that the person brings the persona immense joy, and they act as their source of inspiration. Nonetheless, despite their love and joy, the darkness continues to follow them.

The overall interpretation of the song is that love can bring immense happiness, but it cannot erase the darkness that can still persist in life. The lyrics showcase a bittersweet reality where no matter how strong their love is, they cannot escape the inevitability of sadness and darkness.

Heard this song on an episode of Grey's Anatomy and was immediately drawn in by the different beauty I was hearing. Incredible song that seems to get into your soul. Very nice :)

Grey's Anatomy brought me hear, and I'm glad it did

@Galaxxy9

this (and all of Aron Wright's music) is enormously underrated. How is he not more well known?! This is one of the most beautiful and soothing songs I have had the privilege of coming across in a long time.

I was watching Grey's Anatomy and this song captured me more than the actual scene. Music is most amazing in the way it can affect one at an emotional, soulful, heartfelt and cellular level. That's what this song did to me. Seriously, it is so lovely, so hauntingly emotional and captivating and to quote Greg Bonadies "profoundly moving." Lovely Moving. I immediately went looking for the song and within seconds, I found your music. A lovely reminder that GOOD MUSIC is still out there. WOW!

I had the same reaction as Robert-it called on my spirit. This is truly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's like every longing, aching, memory or love that you ever want to carry in your heart and soul beyond the grave contained in one song. I am in awe of your gift Aron and so thankful to have discovered you! I wish you the best. Thankyou for sharing your beautiful music!

Deep, yet ethereal ballad - profoundly moving.

A thick folksy, earthy sound. Both ancient and hauntingly new. All kinds of love for this!!!

@Galaxxy9

The most beautiful song I have heard in a long time. Gave me shivers...feel it in my soul. Reminds me of walking at dusk, on a winter evening...snow starting to fall, moon and stars overhead. Perfection.

I've had an exceptionally hard time these past few weeks... I've been listening to this song from the moment I wake to the moment I sleep... on my walk to school, between classes, while making diiner, studying... it's brought such a calming and peaceful presence into my life that I really needed... It reminds me that I really need to slow down, and breath, and just.... be? I don't know how to make it make sense.. but thank you for this song.
