Slim 5
Arrah and the Ferns Lyrics

Mahogany and
My favorite thing to do of the year
is drink a drink
and sing karoake with you
In the bar
In the car
And when you go you leave a trail
A trail of ham and coca cola
And when you go you leave me frail
As though I had the chance to kill ya
My only heart has filled me in regards to say goodbye
Leave you behind and
My only brain has led me to believe and think the things
That I shouldn't think
About you
About me too
About you
You change me
When you think you think that I'm not listening no
And when I watch you drive away
I write down all I shouldn't say
You'll never be a friend of ours
I'll make you half as far
The song "Slim 5" by Arrah and the Ferns is a melancholy reflection on a past relationship. The first stanza sets the scene, with the singer expressing their love for mahogany and drinking and singing karaoke with their former partner. However, things quickly turn sour as the lyrics progress. The second stanza reveals that the singer feels ignored by their ex, who leaves behind a trail of ham and Coca-Cola. The third stanza contains the most intense emotions, as the singer declares their intent to leave behind their past relationship, although their heart and brain are not entirely in agreement about this decision. The final lines of the song hint at the singer's bitterness towards their ex, as they vow to make it difficult for them to move on.
The use of the word "frail" in the second stanza suggests that the singer feels vulnerable and weakened by their ex's actions. The repetition of "about you" and "about me too" in the third stanza indicates that the singer is struggling with their feelings about the relationship. Finally, the line "I'll make you half as far" in the last stanza implies that the singer wants revenge on their ex, although it's unclear exactly what they plan to do.
