Nothing ventured, nothing gained👍🏻. I think the viewer takes a lot for granted when we just see the end product. The amount of time setting up shots, capturing drone footage etc must be very time consuming. Nevertheless much appreciated.

Doing well mate! Thanks for stopping for the lizard. Here in Oz far too many are run over on the road. We build roads through their land, take away their rocks and replace it with bitumen. They have no choice but to sub themselves there and then we squash them!

I do lots of turtle rescues in the spring and there was an especially high number of turtles in the roadway this year. I was quite surprised when one of them made a hissing squealing sort of noise at me several weeks back. I didn’t know they could make a noise.

Loved the lizard meet up. I ride in the desert of the SW US. A couple days ago I went out for a 20 mile ride, the first ride after being off the bike for 3 weeks due to Covid. The temp was up in the 80s. The first 10 miles are a constant 3% climb and when I turned around to head back down I was greeted by a 10-15MPH head wind. Half way back I was wishing I had cut the ride short but I soldered on. I noticed a large lizard, belly up and quite dead on the side of the road. I told him that he felt a lot better than I did at the moment.

Catching up with your videos after working away. It’s amazing how quickly one’s back bottom become soft. 36mile ride Thursday 20 miles of pain. Turns out saddle was 3.5 degrees nose down.

Pretty cheeky of the census taker to sit slap bang in the middle of the bike lane. We use a more discreet approach over here, two small air filled hoses to run over. The air pushes a solenoid on the counter and they pick up the data later. Great that you found a solution and one of your best videos yet!

Greetings from Finland again,Leonard! I recently made a purchase of various cycling related things from Wiggle. One of them being Muc-Off chamois cream! And this week i tried it for the first time! We made a group ride with 4 local bikingclub guys. My first ride over 100km this year ( a second ever!) and a personal record of one day biking too - 111,1 km´s!! The roads here are quite flat - nowhere near as hilly as your rides seem to be. And thanks to those local bikers, i enjoyed the possibility of drafting - some guys in front and one at left of me - so i was in a windshield!! Without that protection i could not have done that ride - the average speed was ( allthough i asked between 24 - 26 km/h speed) 27 km/h!! So that chamois cream was good - just a little saddle sore after the ride. But still - keep up the good "work" and do the rides - and the videos! Thanks for the inspiration, Leonard !! Juha

The CC said soda creme. My brain has been contaminated. We use brooks saddles I use it with a gel pad on it ( mostly to protect it from the fog and sweat.) Hubby who is much like you in build and cycling ability, finds it breathes better. I like the pad on it but I may go without it since the cycling pants I have will protect it

Saddle sores are either caused by poor clothing or poor fit saddle...always get it on commuter single speed as I only use casual shorts.

Arse biscuits psml, I'm still having a bit of problem with this issue myself, although my butt now feel much better with the new Chamois Butt'r that I recently bought. @ 3:57 don't you just hate it when just as you think you're doing quite well on the ride, some other rider comes flying past you as if you were standing still, grrr! Hi Leo! Remind me pls, is that 30 days continuously? With as set distance? Or any distance? I've had times when I've ridden a bike day by day, for 4-5 days (30-50km), and I've had enough. Not physically but mentally. AFAIR those were solo rides. I guess it would have been a different case with all group rides, or at least some of them.

Upping the ante from Sudocreme is Magnesium Sulphate paste, comes in a very small pot, needs to be mixed within the pot and applied to the ah erm affected area! Im NO Doctor so my advise is without certification but IS with practise.

0:57 The proper size bike, the proper seat, and the proper seat height is uber-important for Clyde cyclists to avoid chafed inner thighs where the thigh meets the butt, or butt sores. I actually had to sell a bike that I could not adjust sufficiently to avoid cracking the skin at my thigh/butt crease at my "taint," that area between balls and butt. My other bikes were fine, this bike, no matter what I did, just had geometry that cracked my arse, literally! So some arse sores are not just "toughen up the butt" problems...

May I chime in worth a couple of observations and suggestions?
Saddle: try a Selle SMP: https://www.sellesmp.com/en/saddle-finder.html (determine which particular model is most suitable for you first), a colour version (as, unlike the black ones, these are animal-friendly).

Fitness (more body composition than performance aspect of): a 25km ride roughly equals 800kcal, depending on the cadence, power input and the altitude.
I'm very much out of shape now. Was 118kg a month ago. I try to ride every day, but in effect manage only 15-20 days a month because of rains (damn rains!), lack of time, issues with the bike(s), etc. On average I ride ca. 2 hours a day (i.e., ca. 50km per day), occasionally less (ca. 40km.) or more (70km.), which equals, roughly, a daily calorie expenditure of ca. 2.000-2.500kcal.
I consume ca. 3.000kcal a day, of which about 1800kcal is used up by the Resting Metabolic Rate, a couple of hundred by regular activities and 2.000-2.500 - through riding. In other words, by the end of day, I've undergone a calorie deficit of about 1.000kcal. (often a little less, sometimes - more), and that shows: in the last month I've lost ca. 6.5kg (would have lost ca. 10kg if I could afford to cycle daily). I'm still way too fat at the moment (have almost 30kg to burn, as of today), but if I persevere, most likely will have lost between ca. 15kg and 30kg before the end of cycling season.
I use MyFitnessPal (there at alternatives, as well) to monitor My calorie intake and Garmin Connect (FitBit, Withings, etc. are just as good) to log My calorie expenditure (calculated using an HRM watch, of which there's a plethora available).

@leonardmlee Thank you. Oh, yes, I've done it quite a few times. During one of My bike tours that lasted 22 days I lost 9kg - went from 95kg to 86kg. I didn't count calories, but I did try to temper My appetite somewhat: had mostly soups and salads, and only occasionally something like Tiramisù I'm so addicted to. Consequent bike tours failed to yield the same effect, as I was too complacent and ate whenever and howsoever much I pleased to (with the proviso that the food was veg[etari]an - I have been proudly vegetarian since 1997 - and tasty): ended up losing only 3-4kg, despite the slightly longer journey.
Another contributing factor to such effective weight loss was carrying a 30kg rucksack on My back on the first tour, as opposed to panniers on the second. The rucksack almost wrecked my rump (and hurt the shoulders quite a bit), but was immensely useful in getting back in shape.

Another thing that really helps is a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), and more specifically - Tabata. Went from 108kg to 83kg within a matter of half a year.
Vegan lifestyle helps greatly, too, especially one involving little to no processed foods, but takes will power I'm yet to muster (although I feel like shit for consuming animal affliction).
By the way, thank you for saving the lizard. We've (Fire) Salamanders (slow buggers with as developed defence mechanisms as the average ultralefty / mudshark), frogs (idem: as slow as the average open borderer is in concluding the detriment of the replacement of the European Race by the exotic "sweethearts" with IQs in single digits & corresponding looks), hares, hedgehogs, Slow Worms, occasional foxes, weasels, snakes & even badgers here - I, too, often end up stopping to get the less survival-apt creatures to safety.

Leonard, ref sore undercarriage; I have suffered for years with this problem, used many saddles, many shorts in many combinations with little success so I feel your pain. I am now the most comfortable down there than I have ever been and it's down to the following: Firstly saddle tilt; mine in now almost totally flat front to back, combined with a shorter stem than the one recommended on my bike fit, I now sit back in the saddle on the sit bones and don't role forward to the soft parts. My shorts are Kalf sold by Evans and the cream I use is by Mucoff. It's only £12 at Wiggle and it's the best I've ever used.
If you have open sores I would recommend putting Compeed blister plasters on them. I did this when I rode LEJOG and it was a life saver.... Emotional times in the shower when I had to remove them afterwards 😲😦
