Dindi
Art Porter & El DeBarge Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sky, so vast as the sky
With far away clouds just wandering by,
Where did they go?
Oh I don't know, don't know,

Wind, that speaks to the leaves
Telling stories that no one believes,
Stories of love
Belong to you and me

Oh Dindi,
If I only had words
I would say all the beautiful things that I see
When you're with me
Oh my Dindi!

Oh Dindi,
Like the song of the wind in the trees
That's how my heart is singing Dindi, happy Dindi,
When you're with me!

I love you more each day,
Yes I do, yes I do,
I'd let you go away
If you take me with you!

Don't you know Dindi,
I'd be running an' searching for you,
Like a river, that can't find the sea,
That would be me, without you my Dindi!

Don't you know Dindi,
I'd be running an' searching for you,

Like a river, that can't find the sea,
That would be me, without you my Dindi!

El debarge was truly underrated in the 80s, and I'm not sure why.. in my opinion, he was just as good as Michael and Prince. His voice is just phoenominal.

Drugs👇

@ZETAPHI79

His voice is better than both.

@darrellmfume4020

@@andrejackson8270 LONG before the drugs. the executives at Motown STOPPED El from writing and producing his own music. El went into a depression which caused the drug use. by the mid 80's, El was in the TOP 100 songwriter's guild of America. blame Motown, NOT him. they had a future Superstar on their hands and couldn't see it, or didn't want to see it. the boy/El, should have been BIGGER than Smokey Robinson, easily.

@@darrellmfume4020 Thanks for the behind the scenes truth about how El’s creativity had been suppressed.

@pertburton5586

@@darrellmfume4020 They tried to do the same things to Tina Marie but she sued them and won and left Motown. El should have done the same as TM instead of turning to drugs.
