One Of A Kind
Artefact Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do I deserve the flowers?
Those by the ivory towers
To be picked by you

They're waiting for your gentle hands
And for you to snap their stems
Tenderly
This is where I roam
Make yourself at home
Please

You're one of a kind
Leaving us all far behind
You're one of a kind
Drifting on the shadows

You're one of a kind
Leaving us all so far behind
You're one of a kind
Drifting on the shadows
Of my mind

I present you all these sweet words
As a puzzle they will emerge
Can you hand me the solution
Or is there someone
Who can do it better

Help me out here
I put my trust in you
You make me look like a fool
It won't take a minute

Come on now
I put my trust in you
Just do that one thing you do so well

For me for yourself and for everybody else
Come on now

I put my trust in you
You're one of a kind
Leaving us all far behind
You're one of a kind
Drifting on the shadows

You're one of a kind
Leaving us all so far behind
You're one of a kind

Drifting on the shadows
Of my mind

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "One of a Kind" by Artefact convey feelings of admiration, confusion, and vulnerability. In the first stanza, the singer questions whether they deserve the attention and affection they are receiving from their lover, symbolized by the "flowers by the ivory towers" that are waiting to be picked by them. The singer recognizes the fragility and beauty of these flowers and hopes that their lover will handle them with care - "tenderly" - as they seek to make themselves a home in this person's heart.

In the chorus, the singer declares their lover to be "one of a kind", acknowledging their uniqueness and sense of being different from everyone else. However, this uniqueness also creates a distance that the singer and others are unable to bridge, symbolized by the lover "drifting on the shadows" of the singer's mind. This creates a sense of tension and confusion - the singer recognizes the greatness of their lover, but also feels unable to fully understand or connect with them.

The second half of the song shifts to more direct pleas for help from the singer's lover - they present themselves as a puzzle that their lover can solve, and ask for their help in avoiding feeling like a fool. The final plea is for their lover to use their unique qualities to benefit not only the singer, but also themselves and everyone else. Overall, the song presents a complex and emotionally rich portrayal of a relationship that is both admiring and uncertain.

I've been to the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum in Boston, where several pieces were stolen in an art heist. They still hang their empty frames to this day.

This bothers me. It is one thing to steal them, but the damaging of the paintings really hurt me. The fact they can cut the painting and roll them cuts me deeply. I collect art and the fact that someone would harm any of them would destroy me.

That painting of the boy and that frame are amazing.

Not only would I not be able to be an art thief because of moral reasons, but the adrenaline would completely disable me.

What I have never understood is what is the point of art theft. If you steal a painting you can't display it as the original since you could be turned in by a jealous guest. If you display it as a reproduction your theft isn't impressing your rich guests.

Now I've found a new museum I'd liked to visit!

The Duchess of Devonshire was a amazing story.

The sad thing is that the Bata Shoe Museum was constructed in Toronto instead of where it should have been constructed.....Batawa.....which is where the Bata Shoe Factory was located on Thomas Bata's arrival in Canada in the late 30s. The town could have used the revenue from the museum after the factory closure----it would have been the right thing to do. Instead bloody Toronto got it even though they only opened a factory there 25 years later. What a slimy thing to do.

No matter how sophisticated the security, CIA, FBI and NSA agents alone can EASILY bypass these with their technology. All it takes is one rogue agent.

34:20 Well duh, when you have to keep $100 Nike's practically under armed guard to keep them from being stolen what chance does a million-dollar pair of shoes have?

John Seve

They should send the unfixable painting to baumgartner restoration.
