1. Artful Dodger is a British R&B & UK garage band from the city of Southampton, who became famous through their 2Step hits and gave Craig David’s career a boost after he appeared on their #2 hit “Re-Rewind” in December 1999. The band’s name was apparently stolen from an unknown bedroom DJ (popular on pirate radio stations) Lee Haynes whose father’s name was Roger, which was inspired by the Artful Dodger, a character in the Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist. The band originally consisted of Mark Hill and Pete Devereux, but Devereux left prior to the release of the single “TwentyFourSeven”, and Hill continued from then on to produce records under the Artful Dodger moniker by himself. The UK Garage act, comprising of Mark Hill and MC Alistair, now includes fellow Producer & DJ Dave Low.
2. Artful Dodger is an American power pop band, formed in Fairfax, Virginia in 1973. Songwriting duties were handled by band members guitarist Gary Herrewig and vocalist Billy Paliselli, along with guitarist and vocalist Gary Cox. Artful Dodger made three albums for Columbia Records: The 1975 self-titled debut, featuring the tracks “Wayside” and “Silver & Gold”, 1976’s “Honor Among Thieves”, and “Babes On Broadway” in 1977. The band released a fourth album, “Rave On” for Ariola Records in 1980. Despite extensive critical acclaim, none of the releases were commercial successes, which led to the band’s breakup in 1982. The original members reunited in 2005 for a Cleveland Agora anniversary concert. They were very popular in Cleveland, OH, where they still maintain a cult following. The band is still semi-active, playing a reunion show about once a year. The active Artful Dodger community on the internet can be found at http://www.artfuldodgersite.com/
Moving Too Fast

Ooh, you're moving too fast (fast, fast, fast, fast, fast, fast)
Ooh, you're moving too fast and I don't think it's right
I'm not giving you my love tonight
Now, ooh, you're moving too fast
Better sit back, relax
I'm not giving up no love tonight
Boy, I know what you're demanding
And it's time for me to let you know (mmm, mmm, mmm)
Never be without hope to play this game
Not too serious within the same
Stop it please 'cause ain't no possibility
Won't you put your dirty hands, dirty hands on me
Ooh, you're moving too fast and I don't think it's right?
Bad boy, bad boy, you're such a dirty, bad boy
Beep, beep, uh-huh, a-ha, mmm, mmm
I do not see no-one to blind me
Not my kind, nothing does that lose me respect
Not only one night calls, oh, no, no
Never be without hope to play this game
Far too serious within the shame
Stop it please 'cause ain't no possibility
Won't you put your dirty hands, dirty hands on me
Ooh, you're moving too fast and I don't think it's right?
Now, ooh, you're moving too fast?
Ooh, you're moving too fast and I don't think it's right
I'm not giving you my love tonight
Now, ooh, you're moving too fast
Better sit back, relax
Artful Dodger's "Moving too fast" features Romina Johnson on vocals and is a song about a girl refusing to give in to a fast-moving boy's aggressive attempts to woo her. The title of the song is used as a metaphor for the girl's unwillingness to rush into love, admitting that she believes the boy’s intentions are not pure. The girl is confident in her decision, denying her love for him, despite his aggression. Throughout the song, she reiterates that he is moving too fast and she will not give in to his advances.
In the chorus, Romina's powerful and soulful voice repeats "Ooh, you're moving too fast" to emphasize that the boy needs to slow down in his pursuit of her love. She knows what he wants and she is unwilling to play into his game. The girl asserts her strength and controls the encounter by saying "I'm not giving up no love tonight." In the verses, she calls him a "bad boy" and tells him to back off and "stop it please cause ain't no possibility." The girl seems confident in her decision, but her repetition of the chorus may show that she is struggling with her stance. Overall, the song is a catchy tune that speaks to the power of self-worth and the importance of taking things slow.
