Asa de Águia
Composição: Durval Lelys
Cocobambu, Cocobambu
Cocobambu, Cocobambu
Côco é bom
Côco é bom no copo de bambu
Pé de coqueiro tem batuque e batuqueiro
Tem sabor de bambueiro
Tem bambu nesse quintal
Na maré mansa vem a brisa happy-hour
Tem o fogo da morena
E o axé do carnaval
Cocobambu é a pedida do verão
Me dê um copo por favor
Que eu vou cantar essa canção
É o amor
Vem cá meu bem, te dou uma flor
Tô ligado na Bahia
Viva o som de Salvador
The song "Cocobambu" by Asa de Águia is a celebration of the Brazilian summer and its carefree spirit. The song begins with the repetition of the phrase "Cocobambu" which refers to the drink made from coconut water served in a bamboo cup. The lyrics highlight the freshness and sweetness of the drink and its compatibility with the summer weather. The percussion and drum beats in the background mimic the sounds of the coconut trees, adding to the tropical vibe of the song.
The second verse talks about the ambiance of a typical place in Bahia; there is the sound of the drums played by the locals and the bamboo plants that flourish in the region. The lyrics mention a party that is going on with the calm sea breeze and the fire of a beautiful woman. The chorus is repeated, and it emphasizes that cocobambu is the drink of choice for the summer season, and the singer requests for a cup of it to continue singing.
The last verse is an ode to love and the popular Brazilian city of Salvador, known for its vibrant culture and music. The singer mentions he is "ligado" (attuned) to Bahia and dedicates a flower to a loved one, inviting her to enjoy the sound of music and to celebrate life with the drink that unites everyone - cocobambu.
