1) Ash are an alternative rock band that formed in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland in 1992. The media originally pegged Ash's music as Britpop when the band first found mainstream success.
The current line-up of the group is as follows: Tim Wheeler (vocals and guitar), Mark Hamilton (bass guitar) and Rick McMurray (drums).
Ash's full-length debut "1977" was released in 1996 and followed 1994's mini album "Trailer". Named after the year they were all born (and in honour of the year Star Wars was released), "1977" displayed Wheeler and Hamilton's full-fledged love for all things extra-terrestrial and science fiction-related. In autumn 1997, guitarist Charlotte Hatherley was added to the existing trio. Hatherley was recruited from the band Nightnurse.
The new quartet's sophomore effort - "Nu-Clear Sounds" was released in 1998 to a mixed critical reaction. "Free All Angels" followed in April 2001, gaining a U.S. release in the following summer.
Meltdown, the band's first Stateside release for Record Collection, arrived in spring 2005. A year later, and after nine years with Ash, Charlotte Hatherley announced her departure from the band to concentrate on a solo career. The split was amicable and the members of the band have mentioned that they are open to Charlotte returning.

Disintegrate I'm burning through the screen,
Mind meltdown going maximum speed,
The heart it beats and beats and beats and beats.
No night, no day, no heart, no pain, no mind, no love, no shame yeah,
Skullfull of sulphur speeding out of my mind,
Neurons colliding losing track of time,
Erratic thoughts becoming more and more wired,
The heart it beats and beats and beats,
And beats and beats and beats and beats yeah,
Oh yeah what's your name?
What you say?
Skullfull of sulphur burning in a cold braze,
Confusion burning in road rage,
Nihilistic I am feeling no pain,
Don't even know my own name.
No night, no day, no heart, no pain, no mind, no name, no love, no shame yeah,
Oh what's your name?
What you say?
Disintegration negation of thought,
Disintegration negation of thought:.
No night, no day, no heart, no pain, no mind, no name, no love, no shame, yeah.
No night, no day, no heart, no pain, no mind, no name, no love, no shame, yeah.
No night, no day, no heart, no pain, again, again, again, again,
The heart it beats and beats and beats and beats and beats and beats and beats.
The lyrics to Ash's song Skullfull of Sulphur seem to describe a sort of manic state or high caused by some substance referred to as "skullfull of sulphur." The singer is losing their grip on reality as their mind melts down and they feel as though they are burning through the screen. Time seems to be lost and their thoughts become more and more erratic, becoming "negated" and leading them on a mission "out of this life." The repetition of phrases such as "no night, no day, no heart, no pain, no mind, no name, no love, no shame" emphasizes the singer's detachment from reality and the extremes to which they are feeling.
The song could be interpreted as a commentary on the destructive nature of substance abuse and addiction. The surreal and disjointed imagery could also be interpreted as a reflection of the singer's mental state, indicating that they may be struggling with deeper emotional issues. Overall, the song seems to be a dark and intense exploration of a mind in turmoil, all while backed by a pulsating beat and heavy guitars.
