1) Ash are an alternative rock band that formed in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland in 1992. The media originally pegged Ash's music as Britpop when the band first found mainstream success.
The current line-up of the group is as follows: Tim Wheeler (vocals and guitar), Mark Hamilton (bass guitar) and Rick McMurray (drums).
Ash's full-length debut "1977" was released in 1996 and followed 1994's mini album "Trailer". Named after the year they were all born (and in honour of the year Star Wars was released), "1977" displayed Wheeler and Hamilton's full-fledged love for all things extra-terrestrial and science fiction-related. In autumn 1997, guitarist Charlotte Hatherley was added to the existing trio. Hatherley was recruited from the band Nightnurse.
The new quartet's sophomore effort - "Nu-Clear Sounds" was released in 1998 to a mixed critical reaction. "Free All Angels" followed in April 2001, gaining a U.S. release in the following summer.

Ash Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In your spine.
And you knew,
That half the time there's a fault,
Through your heart.
Keeps you down.
Holds you dying at the start.
Your so young.
To learn about it now.
It's too late,
To come down,
When the spark ignites your heart.
Crazy,
And young,
You explode.
It flashes into your eye.
You can't think,
To see straight,
When the burning hits inside.
Don't get up.
It's the pain.
And it hits you down and down.
Let it flow.
Let it ride,
Like a rocket through your heart.
When the clouds part,
See again,
Like we did.
When the storming parts,
I'll come for you.
Then again.
But until then,
Stay in here on our own.
But until then
But until then
When the clouds part,
See again,
Like we did.
When the storming parts,
I'll come for you.
Then again.
But until then,
Stay in here on our own.
But until then
But until then
In Ash's song "Sneaker," the lyrics suggest a sense of urgency and youthful rebellion. The opening lines, "Let it split, In your spine" create an image of something explosive happening within the body, possibly representing a personal awakening or realization. The next line "And you knew, That half the time there's a fault, Through your heart" implies that there may be a flaw or weakness that causes this feeling of explosion or tension. This could also represent an internal conflict between the heart and mind.
The line "Keeps you down, Holds you dying at the start" is a powerful metaphor for feeling held back or restricted at the beginning of something, possibly a new phase in life. The next line, "Your so young. You were wrong, To learn about it now" suggests that the singer feels they are too young to be experiencing whatever awakening they are going through. They feel they have "missed the boat" in some way.
The chorus, "Crazy, And young, You explode. It flashes into your eye. You can't think, To see straight, When the burning hits inside" imparts the sense of wildness and recklessness that comes with youth, as well as the possibility of danger ahead. The next stanza, "Don't get up. It's the pain. And it hits you down and down. Let it flow. Let it ride, Like a rocket through your heart" suggests that the singer is resigned to whatever is to come, and they want to go through it with a sense of abandonment, even if it is painful.
The next few lines, "When the clouds part, see again, like we did. When the storming parts, I'll come for you. Then again. But until then, stay in here on our own" imply that there is someone else who understands what the singer is going through, and they will be there for them whenever they come through it. The final chorus repeats this, suggesting a sense of hope and comfort for the singer.
