The lyrics of Asha Bhosle's song 'Dil Jalon Ka Dil Jala Ke' talk about the complexities of the heart and how it navigates through love and relationships. The recurring phrase 'diljalon ka dil jala ke' translates to 'the hearts that were burning have now burnt out' indicating the pain and heartbreak that the singer is talking about.
The singer wonders what will they gain by burning their hearts and going through all this pain. They lament the fact that the heart is the most important thing in life, but it can also cause the most pain. The lyrics also hint at the impermanence of love, as the heart can go from one place to another, leaving the lover behind.
The singer also talks about how love is a give and take relationship, with the heart giving and receiving. They imply that it is important to listen to one's heart and understand what it wants, for it is fragile like glass and hard like stone. The song eventually ends on the question 'what will they gain by burning their hearts', leaving the listeners to contemplate the significance of love and relationships.
