आ आ आ आ
The lyrics to Asha Bhosle's song "In Aankhon Ki Masti" speak of the intoxicating power of a certain gaze. The singer describes the "masti" or enchantment in the eyes of the beholder as "hazaron ke mastane" or thousands of intoxicated lovers. The subject of the gaze is not the only one affected, however, as the singer notes that even she is not alone in her infatuation. She describes the one who holds this gaze as an "ulfat" or beloved, and laments that she is not the only one feeling the sting of unrequited love.
The song also speaks of the city and the many "deewane" or madmen who inhabit it, all struck by the same kind of enchantment in the eyes of their beloveds. The singer speaks of how she and her lover are the only ones who truly understand the power of such intoxication, as they are the only ones who can truly drink from their respective gazes.
Overall, the lyrics to "In Aankhon Ki Masti" speak to the power of the gaze to cast a spell on both the subject and the object of the gaze, and to the universal experience of unrequited love.
