Originally, the duo consisted of Anders Hagström and Yasmine Uhlin. However, she announced her surprise departure from the band in Hamburg at the last concert of the Out Of line festival tour 2008.
Anders and Yazmine met in November 2005 and, upon discovering that they shared the same musical vision, decided to form a band. Their collaboration soon came to fruition with the release of a 9 track demo entitled "Angora Overdrive" after a very intensive month in the studio.
The second four track demo, "Parliament of Rooks", which was finished in February 2006, had a more refined sound compared to their first offering. They decided to send it to a few select labels because the reaction they got to the first demo was quite overwhelming. Having sent the demos on Monday, Ashbury Heights was contacted and contracted by German Out of Line records on Wednesday, only an hour after the label had received the CD. This probably makes Ashbury Heights one of the fastest signings in history. Several other labels expressed an interest in the band, but there was no bidding war as Out of Line moved so quickly.
Although having signed the famous German act "And One" at about the same time as Ashbury Heights, which ate a lot of the labels' resources, Out of Line wasted no time. The legendary producer John Fryer was brought on board to produce the promotional single "Cry Havoc" in April 2006, something quite unheard of in the world of the electronic underground. Very few bands in the synth-genre get to release promo-CDs (if any), and certainly no other band in modern synth-history has released a promo-CD produced by a celebrity of the likes of Fryer.
John Fryer would eventually mix their first album "Three cheers for the newlydeads". Released in october 2007, the debut album was recieved with overwhelming optimism from press and audience alike proving once and for all that Ashbury Heights truly is a force to be reckoned with.
In 2008 Ashbury Heights returned with the "Morningstar in a Black Car" EP, containing five new songs and four remixes. The EP received good reviews and helped keep up interest for the band. A video was made for the track "Spiders", a low budget affair which nevertheless managed to project some of the bands unique flair.
Ashbury Heights, with brand-new female vocalist Kari Berg, released their new album 'Take Cair paramour' on the 2nd of july 2010. In 2010, following a long running dispute between Hagström and the record label Out Of Line the band disbanded. This dispute was settled in 2011, whereupon Hagstöm and Out of Line renewed their collaboration. However, it took until 2013 for Hagström to find a new singer. The new singer is Tea F. Thimé, the first female to co-write lyrics for Ashbury Heights.

Glow
Ashbury Heights Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't need to be probable
There's no need to make sense at all
Or to be a brick in their wall
Low, low, low
Dissasociative glow, no, no
Got no time to kill, no
Got the means to be free
From the talking machines
And I don't need to be
A model of conformity
You know?
And I don't need an alibi for sanity
Cause I'm my own
I don't care to be likeable
If that means to be predictable
I ain't gonna answer your beck and call
As it makes my world grey and dull
Low, low, low
Dissasociative glow, no, no
Got no time to kill, no
Got the means to be mean
Got the means to be free
From the talking machines
And I don't need to be
A model of conformity
You know?
And I don't need an alibi for sanity
Cause I'm my own
Low, low, low
Dissasociative glow, no, no
Got no time to kill, no
Got the means to be mean
Got the means to be free
From the talking machines
And I don't need to be
A model of conformity
You know?
And I don't need an alibi for sanity
Cause I'm my own
And I don't need to be
A model of conformity
You know?
And I don't need an alibi for sanity
Cause I'm my own
The song "Glow" by Ashbury Heights is a rebellious anthem about rejecting conformity and societal expectations. The lyrics express the singer's desire to be free from the pressure to fit in and make sense to others. "I don't need to be sociable, I don't need to be probable," the singer declares, rejecting the idea that they must conform to be liked or accepted by others. They want to be their own person, without being a "brick in their wall."
The repeated phrase "Low, low, low" and "Dissasociative glow, no, no" suggests a sense of detachment from society and its expectations. The singer has no time to waste on trying to fit in, they want to be mean and free from the "talking machines" of society. The idea of being in a dissociative state is reinforced throughout the song, as the singer emphasizes their desire to be their own person, free from conformity and the expectations of others.
The final lines, "And I don't need an alibi for sanity, 'cause I'm my own," suggest that the singer has found inner peace by rejecting societal expectations and embracing their individuality. The song reaffirms the idea that it's okay to be different and go against the norms of society.

@Darkstray Lily I like a lot of different artists and genres mainstream or not. When I say being mentally 14 forever I am talking about literal retards at 30 years old still listening to papa roach and linkin park on repeat (not that either of those bands are necessarily bad, just an indication of someone never leaving the early 00s) thinking they listen to "real music" , that never expand beyond a single genre (where they haven't even dug far into themselves).
None of what you posted is even makes sense, Kanye doesn't matter in music? That is false, like, not opinion but no actually in rap and music overall he has had an effect, that isn't up for debate he has. 2nd, being sold to saps? The most the average listener does these days is maybe stream music, if that, what the hell are you even talking about? Again with mentally 14, you are spitting out sentences you think are deep or mean something, "it's all just fed to you man, I hate my parents". 3rd, his latest album is called Jesus is King, it's a fucking gospel album that isn't even radio friendly, the last thing marxist mainstream wants to push is ANYTHING but something having to do with Christianity.
You skip the part where I'm only even here because ashbury was connected to a recommendation site saying it sounded vaguely similar to TBM (The Birthday Massacre). Everyone has internet, everyone searches out bands, even normies now usually like someone off the beaten path. Not only are you not special, but this song isn't even good, it's dogshit as far as synth/darkwave/whatever. The only thing worse then the song is the cheesy as hell video. I try to stick up for a lot of "darker" themed artists but man is it hard when so many of the fans are knuckle dragging losers. It's why heavy metal/goth/aggrotech has such a horrible reputation for having creepy bald 30 year old dudes in cringy leather jackets, and all of the women being 300 pounds in corsets and black dresses.
Some of my favorite bands end up being in this category and I pray to god when I scroll down and see "wHy IsNt tHiS nIchE SpECIFIc sOunD oN dA RaDIO, Its bEtTer thEn TaYlor sWifT, I lIKe goOd mUsiC" that its AT LEAST a little kid or something, that it isn't another adult that is this fucking dumb.

I think it's very much like their original sound just w/ hi tech electro and time time fits perfectly in dark synthie pop scene. I miss Yaz's unique voice and element(which I came to love in AH) but yes, different times and things change and I love this.❤
