Tears
Ashes You Leave Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tears
Like the mountains and the forests
Endless rivers of red rose
Your heaven is satanic poetry

Your heaven is when I bleed
Through the bleeding heaven
Through the clouds of dying children
Tears

While my youth still lived and grew
Horizon of wide sights
Sadness only far away
But where are you now distance...

Blood of the holy body
Are you here to hold me, to kiss me

Go away you hurt me...
With every sunrise, new sadness, new pain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in "Tears" by Ashes You Leave describe the pain and sadness that the singer is feeling. The tears are described as being endless, like the mountains and forests, and like rivers of red roses. Interestingly, the tears are also described as being a form of poetry, but a satanic one, which could suggest that the singer feels as though their pain is sinful or evil in some way.

The second verse adds to this idea of pain and suffering, with the singer describing their heaven as when they bleed. This could suggest that the singer feels as though their pain is a form of release or escape from the hardships of life. The imagery of clouds of dying children adds further weight to this idea, as it suggests that the singer is surrounded by death and sorrow.

The final lines of the song add to the overall sense of sadness and despair, with the singer lamenting the passage of time and the loss of their youth. They also mention the idea of blood of the holy body, which could suggest a religious or spiritual element to their pain. Overall, the lyrics in "Tears" paint a bleak and melancholic picture of the singer's emotional state.

It really is a shame they didn't stick with the style on the first three albums, with Dunja Radetic on vocals. Even though it's very clear they were influenced by My Dying Bride, it was cool to hear some really heavy death/doom with ethnic female singing like this.

@Loris Pomazan Hi, would you consider uploading your old albums to spotify?

Loris Pomazan

@AnUnhingedMind we simply didn't feel like this song was good enough to be part of the album. However that was the very first song we ever wrote as AYL.

@Loris Pomazan Hello, Loris, I was able to find the original demo Kingdom Before the Lies and I was curious to know why was "In the Time of Only Two Falls" not featured on the album? That song was awesome. I absolutely love Ashes You Leave's darker, heavier early material.

Line up on this album was: DUNJA-vocals and flute, DAMIR-guitar and keys, LORIS (me)-bass, vocals, guitar and lyrics, LARA-keys and violin, GORDAN-drums. The line up mentioned on the album cover came more than 2 years after the recording of this album (actually, this was demo recording released later as first album) .......... and yes as we can hear, I was huge fan of MDB and Cathedral. :)

I agree - after they did the boring verse-chorus-verse gothic metal, they weren't the same. We can still cherish the first three albums and their amazing sounds.
