Ashmont Hill is an idyllic community in Boston from which a large, loving family was birthed into musical tradition. The Thompson family has made beautiful, spiritual music for years in Jubilee church - the church in which their father is Bishop. Phil Thompson, Sisters April Joy Thompson and Deborah Bullock, along with Deborah’s husband, Wil Bullock heard the call from The Lord to bring their music to a larger community, and have set out, as in Psalm 69:30 to “…praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.”
The song, in which they give praise, is pop worship music with a warmth and sincerity that envelops the listener. That sincerity flows into the music through the individual group members, their belief systems strengthened by solid, supportive family connections, college educations and the making of their own individual decisions when it came to their relationships with the Lord. The impetus behind their recordings is to enable the listener to cast away their cares and experience the real joy they have found through those relationships.
The group’s new self titled album, has an equal amount of vertical (direct to God) and horizontal (meant to inspire the people) songs and was crafted as a true collaborative effort between the band and their producer. “We found our producer on MySpace,” comments April with a lilting laugh. To explain, she continues “We were looking for a producer who could help us create a sound... someone with versatility. Sal Oliveri, was the man we decided we wanted to work with. We felt he could make what we had started even better.” Oliveri and Calvin Nowell (who worked on the group’s vocal arrangements) worked closely with the members of Ashmont Hill to create an inspired and inspirational album.
Group member Phil Thompson wrote the bulk of the album. Songs like “Praise His Name”, “I Won't Be Afraid”, “Restore Us Again” and “Your Right Hand” emanates from the great love Phil has for music and for the Word. Beautiful ballad, “I Live to Worship You” was written by group member April Joy Thompson. The group also re-made 2 Matt Redman songs “Gifted Response” and “Blessed Be Your Name” for the record. Calvin Nowell wrote “I give You Worship” and co-wrote “Song of Glory” with Tony Sutherland for the group. “You Proved Your Love” was written by Oliveri. Spreading God's love through this music is of the utmost importance to each member.
The Ashmont Hill CD will be released to the CCM market on Axiom Records in May of 2008 and will feature the track “You Proved Your Love.” Proving their love for family, music and the Lord is the way of Ashmont Hill – a love they intend to spread as far as their harmonious voices can be heard.

Everlasting one
You have poured your grace on me
Love falls down
Filling up my life
And my heart sings out your praise
Let the seas resound
With a song of glory for you Lord
Let it fill the sky
Saturate my life
With a song of glory for you Lord
Mercy streams
Flowing through my soul
And your deep calls to my deep, oh Lord
Endless light of a thousand dreams
You have come and rescued me
Let the seas resound
Let the oceans roar
With a song of glory for you Lord
Let it fill the sky
Saturate my life
With a song of glory for you Lord
Let the sound of your strong melody
Break the chains as it rises in me
As the heavens sing out in the of love
I will lift up my voice and cry out
From my soul I will send up a shout
Let the words of my life be the song that you hear
Let the seas resound
Let the oceans roar
With a song of glory for you Lord
Let it fill the sky
Saturate my life
With a song of glory for you Lord
With a song of glory for you Lord
With a song of glory for you Lord
The lyrics to Ashmont Hill's "Song of Glory" speak about the grace and love of God, and how these blessings have filled up the singer's life. The chorus of the song includes a call for all of nature to sing out in glory to the Lord, with the oceans and the skies joining in. The singer is overwhelmed by the mercy and love that they have received from God, and they are inspired to lift up their voice in praise.
The lyrics of this song can be interpreted as a celebration of God's goodness and how he rescues those who call on his name. The song also encourages listeners to sing out their own praises to God, using the words of their own lives as a song of thanksgiving. The metaphor of the song suggests that God's glory is like a melody that has the power to break chains and lift people up.
In conclusion, "Song of Glory" is a powerful invitation to celebrate the goodness of God and to lift up our voices in praise. The song highlights how God's mercy and grace touch every aspect of our lives, and how we can join in the chorus of nature and sing praises to God. It encourages listeners to use the words of their own lives as a song of thanksgiving to God, and acknowledge him as the ever-present source of love and light in our world.
