Run Free
Asking Alexandria Lyrics

This world's yours for the taking
This world's yours for the taking
This world's yours for the taking
Run free

Run free and wild, lose your mind, escape your inhibitions
Taste the wind, let your hair down, throw your hands up
Go, go, go, let go forget the consequences
Go, go, go, let go running free

Open your heart, open your mind to a new world, to a new world
Spread out your wings and learn to fly to a new world, to a new world

This world's yours for the taking
This world's yours for the taking
This world's yours for the taking
Run free

Run free and wild, lose your mind, this world's yours for the taking
Open wide, scream it loud this is my life
Go, go, go, let go, forget what came before
Go, go, go, let go running free

Open your heart, open your mind to a new world, to a new world
Spread out your wings and learn to fly to a new world, to a new world

Close your eyes and pray for something better than this world has to give
Make it worth your time when you move on to whatever the hell is next
Know that you went in the end without a single regret
That you lived and loved and laughed and cried and followed your dreams

You won't, you won't be alone in the end
You don't have to be afraid
You won't, you won't be alone in the end
You don't have to be afraid
Run free and wild, let your heart soar with the eagles
Run free and wild, let your love take over

You won't be alone in the end
You don't have to be afraid

The song 'Run Free' by Asking Alexandria is a powerful call to arms for listeners to let go of their inhibitions and live their lives fully. It is an anthem that encourages people to break away from societal restrictions and enjoy life without any constraints. The lyrics repeat the phrase "This world's yours for the taking" three times at the beginning of the chorus, almost to emphasize the idea that life is short and one should take hold of every opportunity. The repetition is also a great technique to make the listeners engage and participate in the song.

The verse "open your heart, open your mind to a new world, to a new world" encourages the listener to be open and willing to experience new things. The lyrics "spread out your wings and learn to fly" metaphorically suggest the idea of freedom and not being afraid of taking control of one's own life. The line "Close your eyes and pray for something better than this world has to give" can be interpreted as a kind of escape from reality and the idea of moving on to a better place, but it also suggests that one can create their own happiness in this world.

The repetition of the phrase "you won't be alone in the end, you don't have to be afraid" can be seen as an assurance or as a prediction that everyone will die, but no one should be afraid of it or of living their life to the fullest. No way. Stand Up and Scream and Reckless and Relentless were soooooo much better than this album. Everything they did after R&R was terrible.

This is the first time I’ve come back to this video in years. This video and album is already 7 years old, and the thought of that makes me so emotional. When this album came out, I was probably in 8th grade, going into 9th, and at one of the worst times of my life in terms of my mental health. I wanted to give up, I wanted to quit fighting. I know Danny and the guys hate being seen as “idols” and I understand they, like many celebrities just wish to be seen again as normal people. But this album, and specifically this song were key parts in me finding the strength to keep going everyday, and to be at the point I am now in my life. I’m 21 years old now, I never thought I’d live past 14. I’m engaged to my best friend, someone I didn’t believe I was good enough for at 14, that I drove away from feeling as if I wouldn’t be the one for her. I have my own apartment, car, we have our two lil cats now, one of which I’ve had since just before this album came out. My life isn’t great, but it’s so much better than I ever thought it would be. I know Danny continued to struggle for the next 5-6 years with drugs and alcohol, but this album was the beginning to so much change and happiness for him. And I’m so glad to say I grew up and discovered happiness in a lot of the same ways, along the same time, as guys that I really believe our heroes not just for me, but their fan base, and the industry as a whole. This album, this band, their legacy, will be something I carry with me forever.

Sounds like a pretty great life to me man 🙂 We all had our times of depression and. bands/artists like this are a big help to getting out of those types of funks. I'm glad to hear things in your life have made a drastic turn around for the better.
