Over the next few years Asrai worked on perfecting their sound, image, and musical relationships - picking up Manon, Rik and Martin as permanent members to create the rich and epic sound they have today.
Touch in the Dark was recorded on indie Dutch-euro label Transmission Records in 2004 (produced by German gothic metal studio wizard Roman Schoensee of The Bloodline/Dreamside) and mixed by Sasha Peath.
They have appeared at over 20 European festivals in 2005 and 2006, and showcased their new single at Paradiso in Amsterdam in May 2006. Asrai went 2008 on a European tour; The Darkest Tout, with Septhic Flesh, Gorgoroth, (now called Godseed), Moonspell and Cradle of Filth. And in 2010 Asrai was part of the Rubicon tour, with Unsun and Tristania.

Asrai Lyrics

A skinny wrist
A clammy hand on white sheets
Side with fear I can't move
I'm in agony
Only my eyes lived
And showed the sadness of a loss
There's nothing more
Nothing more left
Exhausted by wandering
Trough the cruel days
Awakening sadness
As I recall
Outside this changing time provokes me
My big desire
I can't hear this choking love
And I can't hold our memories
Exhausted by wandering
Trough the cruel days
Awakening sadness
As I recall
The sun closes her eyes for the nights
Strange shadows rise at my wall
They are trying to catch my light
And together into this dark night
Exhausted by wandering
Trough the cruel days
Awakening sadness
As I recall
Exhausted by wandering
Trough the cruel days
Awakening sadness
As I recall
The lyrics to Asrai's song "Light" paint a picture of a person lying in bed, trapped by fear and agony. The first verse describes this person, who sees a pale light enter their room before noticing a skinny wrist and clammy hand on the white sheets beside them. They are unable to move due to fear, and can only express their sadness through their eyes. In this small world they inhabit, there is nothing left - they are completely alone.
The second verse talks about this person's exhausted state, a result of wandering through cruel days and being constantly confronted by sadness. They are unable to forget their memories, yet they cannot hold onto them either. The changing time outside provokes them, and they feel a desperate desire for something they cannot have - a choking love that they cannot hear.
The final verse speaks of the night, when the sun closes her eyes and strange shadows rise up the walls. These shadows aim to catch this person's light, though it is unclear what that light may represent. Yet despite all the darkness that surrounds them, this person remains exhausted by their own wandering and the awakening sadness that memories bring.
Overall, "Light" is a deeply introspective song that delves into themes of fear, loneliness, and the emotional toll of loss. The lyrics paint a vivid and haunting picture of a person trapped within themselves, unable to escape their own feelings of despair.
