All Alone
Assigned Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All alone I am waiting here
Hundreds of people but no one pays attention to me
Everyone is ignoring me
And I don't know what I'm doing wrong

Ref:
Where Are You?
I feel so alone.
My face is showing you my fear
I can't stick it any longer here

Running away, don't know where to hide
I don't know who is gonna hear me

Only yout can pull me out
But I can't feel you now

Overall Meaning

In Assigned's song "All Alone," the lyrics convey feelings of loneliness and isolation. The singer laments being surrounded by people but feeling like they are being ignored. Despite being in a crowded place, they feel like they are invisible and don't know what they are doing wrong to attract attention. The chorus repeats the question "Where are you?" which speaks to the singer's desire for someone, possibly a friend or loved one, to notice their distress and offer comfort.

The second verse indicates that the singer is considering running away but doesn't know where to turn or who might listen to them. They feel like only the person they are calling out to can help them, but they cannot feel their presence. The lyrics suggest that the singer is experiencing some sort of emotional distress, perhaps related to a sense of social isolation or an unmet need for connection.

Overall, "All Alone" is a poignant song that communicates the pain of feeling disconnected and unseen. The lyrics capture a sense of vulnerability and longing for human connection that many listeners can relate to.

Who the hell arranged this song? The whistle, the triangle, the rock guitar in just the right place for drama, the bass, The horns. The idea to have some of the instruments slighter out of time at various parts of the song. With so many things going on, it could have easily been dissonance, but it sounds like magic. GENIUS!

paul porter Thank you so much for your kind words. I was the producer/arranger/keyboardist/synthesist. I wrote the music and co-wrote the lyrics along with Dr. Cynthia Biggs El and Kenny Gamble.

She was an excellent whistler. Saw in concert years ago just before she died. It was AMAZING. She really does it that well.
