Acid Rocker
Astrix Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Condemned to death by his peers for rebellion
Horus from Hierakonpolis, the God of Heavens,
has seven days to see the Earth of mankind once more.

The Earth he helped create.

Seven days; the time for one beat of the divine heart.
Not a second more before being deprived of his immortality;
but even the Gods fear death.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Astrix's song Acid Rocker depict the story of Horus, the God of Heavens, who has been condemned to death by his peers for rebellion. The song highlights his desire to see the Earth of mankind once more, the same Earth that he helped create. The lyrics specify that he has only seven days to do so, which is one beat of the divine heart, before he is stripped of his immortality. This portrayal of Horus's final seven days on Earth is a testament to the pain and anguish of awaiting death, even if you are a god.

The song captures Horus's fear of death - an aspect that may surprise listeners unfamiliar with traditional Egyptian beliefs. He was not alone in his fear, though, as even the gods feared death. The song's choice of words and phrasing convey this emotional turmoil effectively. Astrix's portrayal of Horus's final moments is both insightful and moving, as it provides a glimpse into the human-like qualities of the deities of ancient Egypt.

One of the greatest psytrance tracks ever

In my opinion, Astrix found a perfect balance between psytrance and trance in this track.
The breaks between the drops remind me of trance, but the drops are still psychedelic, so it is like a lighter version of psytrance, not like Deep Jungle Walk.
Not many artists could nail it like this.
