Tiba-dum-dá, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dê, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dá, di-um-dá, di-um-dá
Tiba-dum-dá, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dê, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dá, di-um-dá, di-um-dá

Eu quis amar, mas tive medo
E quis salvar meu coração
Mas o amor sabe um segredo (lá-iá)
O medo pode matar o seu coração
Água de beber (de beber)
Água de beber, camará
Água de beber
Água de beber, camará

Tiba-dum-dá, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dê, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dá, di-um-dá, di-um-dá

Eu nunca fiz coisa tão certa
Entrei pra escola do perdão
A minha casa vive aberta
Abri todas as portas do coração

Água de beber (de beber)
Água de beber, camará
Água de beber (de beber)
Água de beber, camará
Água de beber
Água de beber, camará

Tiba-dum-dá, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dê, badebadabadá, tiba-dum-dá, di-um-dá, di-um-dá

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Aguas De Marco" by Astrud Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim explore the themes of love, fear, and vulnerability. The singer confesses that they wanted to love but were afraid, so they tried to protect their heart. However, they acknowledge that love holds a secret that fear can kill the heart. The song suggests that one cannot fully experience love without opening themselves up to vulnerability and taking risks.

The second verse suggests that the singer has learned from their past mistakes and has entered the "school of forgiveness." They have opened up their heart by leaving their doors open, inviting love in. The repetition of "água de beber" throughout the song acts as a metaphor for the essential and life-giving nature of love. Love is depicted as something necessary for survival, just like water.

Overall, "Aguas De Marco" is a powerful representation of the human experience, showing that love can feel intimidating and scary, but ultimately it is what we need to keep our hearts alive. Through the use of metaphors and poetic language, the lyrics offer a deeper understanding of the complexities of relationships and the importance of vulnerability.

Hola.

Hi.
I dedicate this beautiful and melodious song to all Brazilian women. Sweet, welcoming, tender, friendly, proactive, hard-working women, with a lot of personality , independent and sure of themselves. I am Chilean, and all these attributes have never been, nor will most Chilean women ever have.
I thank God that most Latinas are not at all like the women of my country, and that is great.
Thanks for uploading the video.
Greetings from Chile, South America.

I’m 25 year old italian girl. Six years ago I listened this beautiful song for the first time (thanks to Mad Men) and I fell in love with it, then I listened to other bossa nova-style songs and it became my favorite musical style. I love brazil! 💞

My ex husband was her drummer for a while. He recorded one of their shows and had the tape on cassette. She even said all of the players names during the show, including his. I loved that tape. He also had a photo of her in his album. Told me some stories and he had mentioned that his friend, the keyboardist had the biggest crush on her lol
