1) Ataraxia was a pseudonym used by experimental electronic musician Mort Garson only on his 1975 album "The Unexplained: Electronic Musical Impressions of the Occult".
2) Ataraxia, formed in 1985, is a neofolk / neoclassical band from Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, that combines modern technology with archaic instrumentation over various media. They describe their music as a cross "between sacred and profane, ethereal and neoclassic, contemporary and early music." Their work has often involved research into European legends and Classical mythology. Contemplation, dreamy experiences, elegiac atmospheres, ritual movements float in a mysterious garden where contemporary textures of notes meet the embracing echo of classic sounds. Their lyrics are written in many ancient and contemporary languages (such as Latin, French, German, English, and their native Italian) as they try to bring to the surface the hidden treasures and revelations of each. Many of their performances take place in locations the band professes to possess specific spiritual qualities. Since their beginnings in the late 1980s, they have recorded over 20 original LPs every one presenting its own original concept. To name just a few, La Malédiction d'Ondine (1995) deals with female spirits of water and earth; while “Llyr” (2010) tells the story of a divine being traveling through times and forms. Their last work Quasar (2020) is dedicated to 7 archangelic archetypes.
Some of their earlier long sold-out albums have been recently re-released with numerous bonus-tracks.

Ataraxia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
was my blood, was my body.
I was made from nine blossoms,
blossoms of the nettle, oak and thorn,
nine powers of nine flowers,
nine powers in me combined.
Long and white are my fingers
as the ninth wave of the sea.
I have slept in purple,
my wreath is of red jewels.
I know so many songs,
my cassock is red all over
but I prophesy no evil.
A million of angels
stand on the point of my knife.
I am a wind on a deep lake,
I am a tear the Sun lets fall,
I am a hawk above the cliff,
I am a thorn beneath the nail,
I am a hill where poets walk,
I am a tide that drags to death.
Roses, Servants, Sisters,
Goddesses of falls and ruins,
Goddesses of the moon barely skimmed,
Goddesses of the dumb race
you don't have lost me yet."
The lyrics of Ataraxia's song "Therma" are enigmatic and poetic, drawing on mythological and mystical imagery to describe the singer's identity and power. The opening lines, "Not of father, nor of mother / was my blood, was my body," suggest a creation story outside of conventional biology or lineage, perhaps positioning the singer as a divine or supernatural being. The following lines describe the singer's origins from nine different flowers, imbuing them with the combined powers of each. This imagery evokes pagan beliefs in nature spirits or deities, emphasizing the singer's connection to nature and magic.
The subsequent lines each describe a different aspect of the singer's identity, using metaphorical language to convey their complexity and mystery. The long, white fingers are likened to the ninth wave of the sea, evoking the power and danger of the ocean. The other lines similarly describe the singer as embodying contradictory or unpredictable forces, such as tears from the sun, a thorn, a hill, or a tide that drags to death. These images suggest the singer's power as both creative and destructive, beautiful and dangerous.
