Dust
Ataxia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Some of the chances we take,
To make the money we make.
Manufacturing disease
The creature we can see

I'm pleased it some other day
And I've got something to say
You don't need love
So get under the rock

Now, I have a mutated brain
It is the form that's been made
You got for broke
With your prog rock show

Don't you know what I mean?
The sick things that I've seen
When you don't fall down
There's a piercing sound

It was the sky that we learned
That we're to spy on the bird
The clouds all feel
Where we don't feel real

It was implied to make a caption
"It's a pain world", is her reaction
We've answered why it's not been action
We blow the ghosts, is this our faction

This was the movie we made
And we were shooting to fate
We gather dust when you said it's a must

And in the end that we shake
It is the function that's fake
We don't feel real
You don't know how it feels

Now, we've given up a lot
And we've gone right past the spot
We're fueled inside
It's the must that we hide

It was implied to make a caption
"It's a pain world", is her reaction
We've answered why it's not been action
We blow the ghosts, is this our faction

Now, I have a mutated brain
It is the form that's been made
You got for broke
With your prog rock show

It was implied to make a caption
"It's a pain world", is her reaction
We've answered why it's not been action
We blow the ghosts, is this our faction

Blow

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Ataxia's song "Dust" portray a dark and somewhat cryptic message about the corrupt nature of society and the struggles faced by the individual in trying to navigate it. The first verse suggests that some people are willing to take dangerous risks and even harm others to make money. The phrase "manufacturing disease" could be a metaphor for how corporations and industries create problems in society to sell their products or services. The next line, "The creature we can see," implies that these problems are visible and tangible, but perhaps ignored or even glorified by those benefiting from them.

The second verse shifts the focus to the singer's personal experiences. They proclaim that they don't need love and advise others to hide under a rock. The line "Now, I have a mutated brain" could be interpreted as a physical or emotional mutation resulting from societal pressures and corruption. The line "You got for broke with your prog rock show" could be a commentary on the music industry, suggesting that artists are expected to conform to popular genres and "sell out" for success.

The final verse brings the themes full circle, referencing the "pain world" and acknowledging that society has failed to take action to fix its problems. The phrase "blow the ghosts" could be interpreted as an attempt to confront or exorcise the issues plaguing society, but it's unclear whether this "faction" is successful or not.

Overall, "Dust" is a thought-provoking song that encourages the listener to reflect on the darker aspects of society and the impact they have on our individual experiences.

I love this type of music, seriously it makes music such an art

@JulianSchamun

Ataxia is different from everything I've ever heard. It sounds like if every song was an improvisation. For me, listening to them is like a trip, I love their both albums...

Well that´s because the album was recorded in 2 weeks, also, did you know Josh Klinghoffer was the drummer of this band?

There is no true meaning for this song. Everyone will experience it in a different way. There is no wrong or right way. It's just how you feel at a specific moment and how you let the song take you. True art!

Didn't mean to put apologies, I meant analogys. I'm a different person than john and I guess that's why I don't express myself the way he does but it's like when I hear his music it hits me hard and makes me cry because its exactly how I feel. I dont want to write music in the style he does, I write what comes to my heart even if dosnt relate to me.
