Something
Atkins Chet / Jerry Reed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
Somewhere in her smile she knows
Something in her style that shows me
Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around now it may show
I don't know, I don't know
Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me
Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now
The lyrics to "Something" by Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed are a tender and heartfelt expression of love and attraction towards a woman that the singer can't imagine leaving. The song describes the allure of the woman's movements, her smile, and her style, and explores the connection that the singer feels towards her. The chorus repeats the sentiment that the singer doesn't want to leave her and believes in their relationship, while also acknowledging the uncertainty that comes with love and the unknown future.
The opening lines of the song, "Something in the way she moves / Attracts me like no other lover," set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is captivated by this woman's unique presence, and there's an unexplainable quality to her that draws him in. The reference to "no other lover" suggests that the singer has experienced attraction before, but there's something different and special about this woman.
As the song continues, the singer reflects on the woman's smile and style, and how they communicate something to him about her character and how she feels about him. He doesn't want to leave her, and he believes in their relationship, even though he can't predict the future. The line "You're asking me will my love grow / I don't know, I don't know" speaks to the uncertainty of love and relationships, but the chorus repeats the sentiment that the singer doesn't want to leave her and believes in their connection.
Overall, "Something" is a beautiful and timeless love song that captures the essence of attraction and attachment. It's a song that anyone can relate to, whether they're in a romantic relationship or not, because it speaks to the universal human experience of being drawn towards someone or something that we can't quite put our finger on.

There used to be a great live version of this here on YouTube but, recently, I noticed it was no longer here...it was a fantastic live performance too! Thanks for posting this great cover though! Also, does anyone know what album Atkins and Reed put this cover on?

Love this Atkins & Reed version of this classic Beatle song. Funny thing is Frank Sinatra was quoted as saying this was his favorite Lennon/McCartney song. We all know who really wrote this song.
