for anyone reading in 2023, screamo is a misnomer buzzword invented by boomers. for example, jp tremblay of TPB refers to anything to do with vaping as "vape-o sh!t".
"core music", or just "metalcore" if it was just about mxc, was what they were looking for.
p.s. if anyone is still reading this: screamo is NOT synonymous with skramz. skramz is a real genre that lies perfectly between straight hardcore, and emocore.

@_xXscene_genre_elitistXx_ As someone who has listened to metalcore, post hardcore, Christian metal etc etc. I always refer to these genres as screamo to others as a feeler of if they know or like the vocal type. If they bite then I go deeper into appropriate genres and bands
