Attaque 77 Lyrics

Entonces contrataron matones a sueldo
Basura hay en cualquier lugar
Algunas personas nunca comprenderán
Amargo el obrero no puede continuar
Santiago no duerme más la siesta
Algunas personas nunca comprenderán
Amargo el obrero no puede continuar
In Attaque 77's song "Santiago," lead singer Ciro Pertusi voices his frustration with the wealth inequality and corruption present in Santiago, Chile. In the opening lines of the song, he compares the stark differences between the wealthy and the impoverished: "They're full and we're hungry / They have us placated like this / Struggling with this crappy salary / And they're living like they're in Beverly Hills."
The lyrics express a desire to take action against the oppressive forces at play. Pertusi calls for the people to unite and fight for what is rightfully theirs: "Let's take to the streets and take what's ours / The rage can't be hidden / Looting their homes / Just like they did with our dignity." The song ends on a note of hope, with Pertusi highlighting the growing resistance against the corrupt regime: "Santiago no longer sleeps through the siesta / The authority stepped down / They said: we're done here / So they hired hitmen / Garbage is everywhere / Some people will never understand / The bitter worker can't go on / Santiago no longer sleeps through the siesta / Some people will never understand / The bitter worker can't go on."
Overall, "Santiago" is a powerful call to action against injustice and corruption. It highlights the desperation and frustration of those who are oppressed, while also celebrating the growing solidarity and resistance of the people of Santiago.
