The band was formed in 1993 by Tony Nwachukwu and Charlie Dark. Charlie Dark was a part time journalist and DJ and had been approached by James Lavelle to produce and engineer tracks for his Mo Wax record label.
Their first release, Vibes, Scribes and Dusty 45's Ep, contained the down tempo classic Contemplating Jazz. Featuring the vocals of third member Roba El-Essawy, Attica Blues' sound contained the trademark trip-hop aspects like heavy beats, vocals and deep dark atmospheres. They released a follow up album, Blueprint.
Attica Blues were also often solicited for remixing and producing.
After the Mo Wax album Blueprint, they released a second album, Test,Don't Test on Sony Records.

I know though hard to find
And just rest your self
And give me a chance
To explain
I know the reasons why
I know without no do ubt
To push me down
So i can see
You've gone too far
To give it all away
You've gone too far
To give the game away
I know you tried so hard
I know and could i make it out
And i fell beside you grab so tight
Dwindling revealing to me
You've gone too far
To give it all away
You've gone too far
To give the game away
See what i have seen
You know its driving
Days have to end
Oh why, tell me are you blind
To what is going on around
Because dont you know
What you reap is what you sow
So except (?? Upset?)
So except (?? Upset?)
You've gone too far
To give it all away
You've gone too far
To give the game away
You've been too far
To give it all give it all
Give it all away
You've gone
You've gone
You've gone
Too
Far
The Attica Blues’s song “Gone Too Far” is about a relationship or a situation that has reached a breaking point. The opening lines of “Know what’s on your mind, I know, though hard to find” show that the singer is trying to empathize with the other person, to understand what they are feeling and thinking before they explain their own perspective. The next lines “And just rest yourself, and give me a chance to explain” reveal a sense of urgency or desperation, as if the singer is afraid that if they don’t speak up soon, the relationship or situation could be lost for good.
The chorus “You’ve gone too far, to give it all away, you’ve gone too far, to give the game away” suggests that the other person has already made a big mistake, gone too far down a certain path that could have negative consequences. Perhaps they lied, cheated, or betrayed the singer’s trust in some other way. The repetition of “gone too far” emphasizes the severity of the situation and how it has crossed a point of no return.
Towards the end, the lines “You know it’s driving, days have to end” suggest that the situation has become toxic and unsustainable, and that the singer needs to move on. The final lines, “You’ve gone, you’ve gone, you’ve gone, too far” leave no room for negotiation or reconciliation, and it seems that the singer has finally made up their mind to walk away.
