The duo released their debut album Ego War in 2003 to positive reviews which helped to establish them as one of the best new acts in dance music. The album fused elements of breaks, hip-hop, punk, garage and house with clever beats and samples.
In 2005 they released Generation, the follow-up to their debut album. Despite reaching number 3 in the UK Singles Chart with their 2005 hit, "Shot You Down", which samples the Nancy Sinatra version of the song "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)", the album was poorly received. Generation was seen as a step away from what made Ego War appealing due to the pace being slower and a number of tracks being downbeat in mood. In a 2008 interview, Simon Franks suggested that they listened to their label, Virgin, too much: "We should never have listened to anyone else". "Virgin admitted they didn't know how to market house music, and it slowly turned into us making this slower album. The daft thing is, Shot You Down was the big hit, this old-school club track, but it was followed by a moody, dark record. It confused everyone."
In making Generation, the group worked with Suggs of Madness collaborating on the track "This Road".
Their new album, Sunday Night Fever, was supposed to be out September 2008, but has been delayed till 2009. It has been renamed to Higher Than The Eiffel and will be released in 2010. The first single promoting that album entitled Only Man, will be released on March 22nd 2010.
Way Too Long
Audio Bullys Lyrics

Have you been hearing what they say?
They were your buddies yesterday
But you took too long to pay
Have you heard the latest news
About a cat that got slapped and bashed and bruised
Yeah, I wouldn't wanna be in his shoes
Broken friendships too hard to mention
Ran round in venture
Only invention
As we step from old to new
Andy knows we always wanted to didgeridoo
All those kids who were your mates
You've let them sitting on their hate
When you're asleep or you're awake
You cannot hide from your mistake
Has he checked the fresh tickets?
Get my fuckin
money or you get my fuckin' fist
Personality switchin' twitchin'
Like the girls in the springer show bitchin'
Boy's in major shit now
Hasn't even got a little bit now
Cuz he was out on the town
Knockin' boots down
Spendin' all his money
And throwin' it around
Nobody's been comin' round your way
Have you been hearing what they say?
They were your buddies yesterday
But you took way too long to pay
All the kids who were your mates
You've let them sitting on their hate
When you're asleep or you're awake
You cannot hide from your mistake
Have you seen where Stevie's been?
Well, I've seen him round the way,
If you know what I mean
Where?
Well, he was at the club last night
Drinkin' with a girl and she looked a bit alright
What the fuck is he doin'?
Spending all my money on a girl now im screwin'
I only ticked him for a favor
And he pays me back with that kinda behaviour?
And that just seems to be the way things go down
Just enjoyance with a bird to an old motel
Lets get paid lets just get paid
And that just seems to be the way things go down
Just enjoyance with a bird to an old motel
Lets get paid lets just get paid
And that just seems to be the way things go down
Just enjoyance with a bird to an old motel
Lets get paid lets just get paid
The lyrics to Audio Bullys' "Way Too Long" explore the consequences of not paying debts and betraying friendships. The song describes a situation where the singer owes money to his friends and takes too long to pay, causing them to turn against him. The song also talks about broken friendships and how the singer's behavior has led to hatred towards him from his former friends.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the singer's behavior is not only affecting his friends' perception of him but also has consequences for him. For example, the lyrics mention that he was "knockin' boots down spendin' all his money and throwin' it around." The song also implies that the singer has resorted to violence to solve his problems.
The chorus of the song reinforces the idea that the singer cannot escape the consequences of his actions, whether he's awake or asleep. The lyrics suggest that there's always someone watching and waiting to take revenge on him.
