The Last Remaining Light
Audioslave Lyrics
Roll me on your frozen fields
Break my bones to watch them heal
Drown me in your thirsty veins
Where I'll watch and I'll wait
And pray for the rain
Curl like smoke and breath again
Down your throat inside your ribs
Through your spine in every nerve
Where I watch and I wait and yield to the hurt
And if you don't believe
The sun will rise
Stand alone and greet the coming night
In the last remaining light
Seven moons and seven suns
Heaven waits for those who run
Down your winter and
Underneath your waves
Where you watch and you wait
And pray for the day
And if you don't believe the sun will rise
Stand alone and greet the coming night
In the last remaining light
And if you don't believe the sun will rise
Stand alone and greet the coming night
In the last remaining light
Light

Roll me on your frozen fields
Break my bones to watch them heal
Drown me in your thirsty veins
Where I'll watch and I'll wait
And pray for the rain
Curl like smoke and breathe again
Down your throat, inside your ribs
Through your spine and every nerve
Where I'll watch and I'll wait and yield to the hurt
And if you don’t believe
The sun will rise
Stand alone and greet
The coming night
In the last remaining light
Seven moons and seven suns
Heaven wait for those who run
Down your winter
Underneath your waves
Where you watch and wait
And pray for the day
And if you don’t believe
The sun will rise
Stand alone and greet
The coming night
In the last remaining light

Lyrics
Roll me on
Your frozen fields
Break my bones
To watch them heal
Drown me in
Your thirsty veins
Where I'll watch
And I'll wait
And pray for the rain
Curl like smoke
And breathe again
Down your throat,
Inside your ribs
Through your spine
And every nerve
Where I'll watch
And I'll wait
And yield to the herd
And if you don’t believe
The sun will rise
Stand alone and greet
The coming night
In the last remaining light
The seven moons
And the seven suns
Heaven wait for
Those who run
Down your winter
Underneath your waves
Where you watch and wait
And pray for the day
And if you don’t believe
The sun will rise
Stand alone and greet
The coming night
In the last remaining light
Hey
And if you don’t believe
The sun will rise
Stand alone and greet
The coming night
In the last remaining light

Cornell truly was one of the greatest singers (and perhaps songwriters) of the modern age.
His voice, huge. His range, astounding. His song-writing, brooding and mystical. This track like a mix of Led Zep, Soundgarden (obviously), and maybe a bit of Volta. And something I can’t put my finger on....But ultimately it’s inimitably Audioslave.
...And somewhat dark. Apparently this song about approaching death. That if one doesn’t believe in the Oneness of the universe, divinity/God or some kind of afterlife, then there may only be a final darkness...
I’m not sure about that. But it is true that there will be literally be no light left, as the expansion of Universe and entropy means the Heat Death of this Universe will occur in several trillions of years. No more particles interacting. “If you don’t believe the sun will rise,
Stand alone and greet the coming night
In the last remaining light”

James Warren same...today is especially painful...for all the healing and understanding he offered us through his gifts, he could not save himself.
