Audiovent was originally formed by Jason Boyd, Paul Fried, and Benjamin Einziger under the name Vent. Boyd and Fried met while attending A.E. Wright Middle School in Calabasas. After Fried introduced Boyd to his stepbrother Einziger, the three decided to form a band. When Fried was in tenth grade Jamin Wilcox joined Vent. Throughout their high school years, Vent played gigs around Calabasas and eventually played as far as Hollywood. Ryland Steen replaced Wilcox on the drums in 2003.
In 2001, the band renamed themselves Audiovent, signed with the major label Atlantic Records. Audiovent then began recording their first major label album, Dirty Sexy Knights in Paris, which was released in 2002.
Paul and Ben are step-brother and brother of Michael Einziger and Jason Boyd is the brother of Brandon Boyd, both of Incubus.

And it makes me, it breaks me
Out of you and into me, I'll make it
So take a look at what you do to my head
When you're leaving, I'm breathing
Out of me and into you, I feel sick
I feel sick
It complicates our lives
But I am the reason
That I will stay alive
We are the energy
We are the same as you
Take everything you need
We are the answer to
The broken, breaking through
Take everything from me
Every now and then I dream about you
I've lost the feeling, it's dead skin
I will never be dependent again
And every now and then I think about you
It's bringing me closer to closure
Every now and then I know it's over
It's over
Now that you're leaving
It complicates our lives
But I am the reason
That I will stay alive
We are the energy
We are the same as you
Take everything you need
We are the answer to
The broken, breaking through
Take everything from me
We are the energy
We are the same as you
Take everything you need
We are the answer to
The broken, breaking through
Take everything from me
Cause I'm not dying
No I'm not dying
Today
The Audiovent song "The Energy" portrays a complex and multifaceted relationship between two people, where the singer is caught between the feelings of heartbreak and the hope of moving on. The song is emotional and cathartic, representing the struggle of letting go of someone who has meant so much and the desire to heal and move forward.
In the first verse, the singer reflects on the moments where they remember the person they are trying to forget. The person's absence causes them pain and confusion, making them feel sick. However, the singer also recognizes that they have to let go and move on, making a conscious effort to get over this person. The singer is primarily talking to themselves, reassuring themselves that they will make it without the other person.
The chorus refers to the concept of energy, signifying that everyone is connected and the same, despite their differences. The singer acknowledges that the other person may take everything they need from them, but ultimately, they are the answer to the broken, and they will not die. The bridge is an echo of the first verse, but the singer seems more self-assured and confident in their decision to move on.
Overall, "The Energy" is a powerful song about the complexities of relationships, heartbreak, and hope. By acknowledging the pain and accepting the separation as a necessary step for personal growth, the song offers solace to anyone who may be struggling with letting go of someone or something.
