Their debut album, "Feel It Break" (May 2011, Domino), came after a long sequence of bands for Stelmanis, representing a near ten year musical progression performing as an artist, then fleshed-out by a full band. The album made into several year-end critics' lists; notably, both the Toronto Star and New York named it the best album of 2011, with the former calling it "an outright stunner". Stereogum named Austra a Band to Watch on March 14, 2011.
Their sophomore album "Olympia" was released on June 18, 2013, from which the first single Home was released on March 7, 2013.
In 2014, the band released their first EP, "Habitat EP".
More settled and dominant than ever, the band's sound represents Stelmanis' influences tightened into a shiny metal ball — pianos give way to keyboards as songs build and pull, their urgent, dark melodies arpeggiating through multiple synthesizers, wrapping themselves around Stelmanis' voice.

Austra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My body can't rest unless you're sleeping by my side
You know that it hurts me when you stay away all night
What is it that keeps you there?
Keeping you occupied, from my heart
My heart
Somehow
You'll see that it's better than beyond the side
You know that it hurts me when you can't see straight at night
Will keep you there, keeping you glorified, in my heart
My heart
My heart
Hope, hope, hope, hope, hope, hope
You know that it hurts me when
You know that it hurts me when
You don't, you don't, you don't
You know that it hurts me when you don't come home at night
My body can't rest unless you're sitting by my side
You know that it hurts me when you stay away all night
What is it that keeps you there?
Keeping you occupied from my heart
The lyrics to Austra's song "Home" speak to the pain of being separated from a loved one, particularly during the night. The singer laments that her body can't find peace without her partner by her side, and questions what could be so important as to keep them away for extended periods of time. The repeated phrase "keeping you occupied from my heart" suggests that the singer suspects her partner may be deliberately avoiding her for some reason, or has simply lost touch with the connection they once had.
The chorus, with its repetition of "you know that it hurts me," reinforces the intensity of the singer's emotions, while the use of the word "glorified" in the second verse hints at a kind of idealization or romanticization of the partner's absence. The final lines, where the singer implores, "you don't, you don't, you don't" highlight the feeling of helplessness and frustration that can come when a loved one is distant, both physically and emotionally.

Somehow I find my self coming back to this video from time to time. For me this video represents of you feel lonely from time to time even when you are surrounded by people, and in the end you realize that you are not alone and... it makes me feel happy again.
