Much of Autechre's music has a strong focus on complex rhythm and driving percussion, and more recently, on meticulous sequencing. Later work has been notably experimental and abstract, in contrast to the more club-friendly and conventional early 1990s releases.
Booth and Brown formed the group in 1987 while they were both living in Rochdale, United Kingdom. They began by making and trading electro and hip-hop mixtapes, but gradually collected some cheap equipment (most notably a Casio SK-1 Sampler) and moved on to their own compositions.

I don't have any idea about what's goin' on
I don't have any idea about what's goin' on
I don't have any idea about what's goin' on
I don't have any idea about what's goin' on
I don't have any idea about what's goin' on
I don't have any idea about what's goin' on
The lyrics of Autechre's song Basscadet are repetitive and straightforward, as the singer repeats "I don't have any idea about what's goin' on" over and over again. The lyrics seem to indicate a sense of confusion or disorientation; the singer doesn't understand what is happening around them. The repetition of the line creates a feeling of frustration and alienation, as the singer seems to be cut off from the world and unable to comprehend its workings.
However, it is important to remember that this is an instrumental track with no vocals. The words are actually a sample from the song "It's a Fine Day" by Jane and Barton, distorted beyond recognition. The original lyrics of that song have nothing to do with confusion or disorientation; rather, they describe a beautiful day and the simple pleasures of life. This distortion and recontextualization of the original lyrics is a hallmark of electronic music and a key part of Autechre's style.
Overall, the lyrics of Basscadet are not meant to be a coherent narrative or convey a specific message. Instead, they are a sonic element that adds to the overall atmosphere and feeling of the song, which is characterized by its glitchy, futuristic sound.

I like how Ae considers their early stuff not that great but this is some of the best electronic music ever made.

Their early work is their best work, imo.

@LoHr I agree, I should have been more clear as it turns out - not just some of the best ever made but in fact better than their later stuff. IMO up thru Tre Rep is peak, then some interesting stuff, and they lost me at Confield.
