Whatever
Autopassion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She said I don't wanna be another no more
but I don't really know how to live
If it takes months, then I think I'd rather not try
It takes so long to die

And sure we've had our time together
But it won't be long until we are severed
And I was waiting and you were wasting my time

But you're on my mind all the time
And I don't know when I'll see you
Pray to the lord that it'll be soon

Woke up this morning
And looked to your side of the bed
To see maybe if you had been there
And as it goes, had to leave it all to good dreams
And still only it seems

And sure we've had our time together
But it won't be long until we are severed
And I was waiting and you were wasting my time

But you're on my mind all the time
And I don't know when I'll see you
Pray to the lord that it'll be soon

You're on my mind all the time
It only goes away
Once were mine all mine

She said I don't wanna be another no more
but I don't really know how to live
If it takes months, then I think I'd rather not try
It takes so long to die

And sure we've had our time together
But it won't be long until we are severed
And I was waiting and you were wasting my time

But you're on my mind all the time
And I don't know when I'll see you
Pray to the lord that it'll be soon

You're on my mind all the time

It only goes away
Once were mine all mine

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Autopassion's song "Whatever" describe the complicated emotions that arise in a failing relationship. The singer's partner has expressed a desire to leave and start anew, but the singer is struggling to let go. They don't know how to move on or live without their partner, even if staying together is not an option. The singer seems resigned to their fate, acknowledging that "it won't be long until we are severed," but they still hold onto hope that they will see their partner again, even though they don't know when or how.

The lyrics also touch on the theme of time and how it affects relationships. The singer notes that dying takes a long time, suggesting that their relationship may have already died but they are still clinging onto it. They also wake up in the morning, looking for their partner, but find that they are not there. The passage of time and the uncertainty of the future haunt the singer throughout the song.

Overall, the lyrics to "Whatever" capture the complicated emotions of a relationship on the brink of ending, where one partner is ready to move on but the other is not. The song's melancholic and introspective atmosphere is perfectly complemented by Autopassion's atmospheric instrumentation.
