Waning Faithful
Autumn's Grey Solace Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Wanting something new
Now I'll find way to go.
Hold on, somehow, to notions incomplete.
Trusted, cold, relenting fate
Wanting someone new.
Now I'll find a way to go.
Somehow, the notion's incomplete.
Big mistake, Stay away.
????
Drinking, Dance to ???
Wanting something new.
The lyrics of Autumn's Grey Solace's song Waning Faithful seem to be about someone who is feeling trapped and suffocated in a situation they are in, and are desperately seeking escape. The first stanza speaks of hope and suffocation, wanting something new and finding a way to move forward. However, they are still holding onto incomplete notions, indicating that they may not have a clear idea of what they want or where they want to go. The second stanza speaks of trusting in a fate that is cold and relenting, and again, wanting someone or something new, but without a clear idea of how to move forward. The repeated line "somehow, the notion's incomplete" adds an element of uncertainty or confusion, as if the person is struggling to make sense of their desires and their path forward. The final line "big mistake, stay away" may be a warning to someone or something that they know would lead them further astray, or a message to themselves to avoid repeating past mistakes.
Overall, the lyrics of Waning Faithful are open to interpretation and can be read in a number of different ways. It is a haunting and introspective song that speaks to the universal human experience of feeling lost or trapped and seeking a way out.
