You Are Mine
Avalon Frankie Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Haven't I told you so
You are mine
Even the angels know
I thought you knew
It's only you
Yes, you are mine
I loved you the
First time that we met
Then I knew that
I could not forget
All that we shared
How much I cared for you
Now, I may not be a poet
Who can tell his love with words
But I'm sure my heart will show it
That I am asking you
To be my wife
Love me eternally
And be my life
Please be a part of me
Then I'll possess
Life's happiness
When you are mine
Oh oh, be my wife
Love me eternally
And be my life
Please be a part of me
Then I'll possess
Life's happiness
When you are mine
When you are mine
The song "You Are Mine" by Avalon Frankie is a romantic ballad that expresses the singer’s deep love for his beloved. The chorus of the song emphasizes the fact that the singer’s love interest belongs to him and only him. He repeats this several times in the chorus, saying “Haven’t I told you so” and “Even the angels know.” This suggests that the depth of their love is so intense and pure that even the divine beings are aware of it.
The verse of the song expresses the singer’s pure love for his beloved. He reminisces about the first time they met, how he knew from that moment that he could not forget her. The singer then goes on to explain that his love is not for show, he may not express his feelings in poetic terms but his heart shows it. He then expresses the wish for his beloved to take his hand in marriage and be his for eternity. The last line of the song suggests that possessing the happiness of life will only be possible if his beloved wife is by his side, indicating the importance of marriage in the singer's life.
Overall, the song is a beautiful expression of pure and deep love. It highlights the importance of commitment and the promise of love lasting through eternity. It reminds the listener that there is someone out there who is meant to be "yours" and that when that happens, you should hold on tight.

Best song and performance Frankie ever recored . As a Kid in the 50's, I was not a fan of Frankie's. I was into R&B and droop. When I heard this song for the first time, I was blown away, his voice had matured so much. Could not believe it was Frankie. About 3 years ago, I picked up a CD of his just for this song. As I listened to the rest of the songs, I changed my mind about him. Now, I am a real fan.

I am a guy and I feel like Frankie is singing to everyone with a fantastic back-up vocal and the band, I also love the use of the piano as was standard at the time!!

This was the future Chancellor records owners/writers Bob MArcucci and Pete' De Angelis'' first recorded song - done way before the inception of their label. It was recorded by Vince Carson on Essex in 1955..then the song and the label got taken over by Good Fellas.....eventually, years later, Bob And Pete were able to recover the song and it was recorded by Frankie in '62 as you hear it here....fantastic opening string run by Don Costa.
