Nightlife

Although we know you have to slip away
Part of your routine repeating the same thing
(No sleep just sweat, no rest)
(Have my life)
You are my vice and you got my control
(You make it right)
I know I'm not the only one you love boo
The other half of the world is missing you
Up in the bar
Showing the stars, roll out the fancy car
(Nightlife)
When you roll out the drop when the sun goes down and I buy another round
(Nightlife)
When the girls come in pairs, pressures so thick you can feel it in the air
(Nightlife)
Its getting late, last call but I don't care
I'm ready to go (no)
Its out of control (ohh)
That's why I'm married to nightlife
Waking up late, with you on my mind
Don't know what happened to me yesterday
Shake it off cos you put it on me
I don't wanna loose so I guess I'm ready for round two
I'm so involved when it comes to you
No sleep just sweat for rest
(Have my life)
You are my vice and you got my control
(You make it right)
Always a surprise the way it unfolds
You bring out the talent with everything you do
And nothing compares that's why I'm in dept to you
Open the bars, show in the stars
Bring out the fancy cars
(Nightlife)
When you roll out the drop when the sun goes down and I buy another round
(Nightlife)
When the girls come in pairs and pressures so thick you can feel it in the air
(Nightlife)
Its getting late, last call but I don't care
I'm ready to go (no)
Its out of control (ohh)
That's why I'm married to nightlife
Dark and sweet, mysterious yet hard to keep a hold of
Cold and incidentally (ahh)
So still faithful on ya, help me escape my troubles
Romantic on the ready, another secret affair till dawn
(Nightlife)
When you roll out the drop when the sun goes down and I buy another round
(Nightlife)
When the girls come in pairs, pressure gets thick you can feel it in the air
(Nightlife)
Its getting late, last call but I don't care
I'm ready to go (no)
Its out of control (ohh)
That's why I'm married to nightlife
The lyrics of Avant's song "Nightlife" appear to be about a person who is drawn to the excitement and allure of the nighttime, specifically the fast-paced, party-filled atmosphere that comes along with it. The opening lines suggest that this person is fighting against the idea of settling into a normal routine and that they need to break away from it. The lines "Something tells me that you were rebelling/Although we know you have to slip away" seem to imply that this person is trying to escape from the monotony of everyday life.
As the song progresses, the lyrics reveal that the "nightlife" is not just a temporary escape for this person, but something that they are committed to. They are "married to nightlife" and see it as a vital part of their identity. The chorus of the song repeats the idea that the "nightlife" is something that takes control and can be out of control. The lyrics suggest that this person is willing to embrace the danger and uncertainty of the "nightlife" because it gives them a thrill and a sense of purpose.
In the bridge of the song, the lyrics become slightly more ambiguous. The lines "Dark and sweet, mysterious yet hard to keep a hold of/Cold and incidentally (ahh)" imply that the "nightlife" may not be as straightforward and glamorous as it seems. However, the lyrics still suggest that this person is willing to take the risk and indulge in the excitement of the "nightlife" despite its potential pitfalls.
