Tell you the truth about exactly how I feel about us
We took it to that other level
From all the phone as friends to holding hands to sexing it
But this is about trust
Maybe I can understand
How you could want me as your man
Or is it just material things?
Or the lifestyle that comes with me
βCause thereβs no guarantee that this will last forever
If you care
When itβs over yea
When the partyβs over yea
Will you be there?
When itβs over yea
When the partyβs over yea yea
Iβve been thinking 'bout all we been through baby
The happy times, the times you cried
It hurt inside, but I wanna make this work
I really hate that Iβm second guessin' it
But Iβve been hurt before
When it rain, it pours
And lose your control
Let me help you let the past go
Is the love we share sincere?
Can I wipe away my fears?
If I walked away from everything, that donβt really mean a thing
Can we live the simple life?
Little fives at early nights
Girl I gotta know if you loving me for me
If you care
When itβs over yea
When the partyβs over yea
Will you be there?
When itβs over yea
When the partyβs over yea yea
I wanna know
If itβs really real (Really real)
Then tell me what it is you feel yea
I wanna know (Know)
Will you still be there?
When itβs all over
If you care, yeah
When itβs over yea, (When it's all over)
When the partyβs over yea (Will you still be with me?)
Oh when the partyβs over yea yea (When it is)
When the partyβs over yea yea (Baby when it is)
If you care, oohh baby
When itβs over yea (When it's all over)
When the partyβs over yea (When itβs all over)
I wanna know
I need to know (When itβs over yea)
When the partyβs over yea (Would you still even care)
When itβs all over yea
Will you still be with me? Yea
No life go with option
Will you still even care?
When itβs all over yea
When itβs all over yea
When itβs all over yea
When it is, when it is
In Avant's song When It's Over, the singer is revealing his true feelings to his partner about the state of their relationship. He acknowledges that they've taken their connection to a new level, from just talking on the phone to sex, but he's worried about whether their love is built on trust or just materialistic desires. The singer questions the sincerity of their love and wonders if they could live a simple life together without all the luxury that comes with being with him. Ultimately, the singer is asking their partner if they'll stay with him when the party's over, when the fun and excitement of their relationship fades away and all that's left is their love.
The lyrics of When It's Over explores a common theme in relationships, which is the fear of commitment and the doubt about the authenticity of love. Avant's use of metaphors, such as "when it rains it pours and loses your control" conveys the uncertainty that the singer feels in his relationship, and how he worries that things might not work out in the end. He pleads with his partner to be honest with him and to assure him of her love, even after the excitement of their relationship fades away.
One interesting fact about the song is that it was released as a single from Avant's fourth studio album, Director in 2006, and it reached number 17 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The song was written by Myron Lavell Avant, Stephen Edward Huff, and Harvey Jay Mason, Jr., and produced by The Underdogs. The song's music video was directed by Marcus Raboy and premiered in January 2007. The video features Avant singing in various locations, including a beach and a loft apartment.
Another interesting fact about the song is that it samples the melody of The Stylistics' 1971 hit song "People Make the World Go Round," which adds a nostalgic and classic touch to the song's contemporary sound. The song's lyrics and overall message have resonated with listeners who have experienced doubts in their relationships or who are afraid to commit to love.
The chords for the song When It's Over by Avant are as follows:
Verse: Dm, Bb, F, C
Chorus: Dm, Bb, F, C
The song's melody and chord progressions are relatively simple and follow a classic R&B ballad structure. The song's emotional weight comes from its lyrics and Avant's soulful vocals, which convey the pain and vulnerability of the singer's doubts and fears about love.
