And All Things Will End
Avenged Sevenfold Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lived through you
Safe with how we lived our lives
With how it all turned out (But things are bound to change)
Uncovered lies, surfaced throughout
Will make you change your mind

Sometimes life is altered
Won't turn out right, can't turn out right

When I see you, I can read it in your eyes
Fate misunderstood (But things are bound to change)
Swallowed the lies, can't blame you for
Thinking with your heart

Sometimes life is altered
Break from the ropes your hands are tied
Uneasy with confrontation
Won't turn out right, can't turn out right

I see my world crumble and fall, before my eyes
I know, I know
Dark will turn to light, in time I'll be alright
I know, I know
I never imagined my life could turn out this way
So cold, so black, so alone

Living goes by fast, catch your breath
And it will pass you by
And it won't last, to sulk with the memories you hold

Sometimes life is altered
Break from the ropes your hands are tied
Uneasy with confrontation
Won't turn out right, can't turn out right

Sometimes life is altered
Break from the ropes your hands are tied

Uneasy with confrontation
Won't turn out right, can't turn out right

Overall Meaning

Avenged Sevenfold's song "And All Things Will End" is a poignant and introspective track about the consequences of decisions we make in life, and how these choices can impact us in ways we could never have imagined. The lyrics depict the journey of someone who has lived through the consequences of decisions made, both those that brought about a pleasant outcome, and those that didn't. The song starts with a reflection on how the singer and someone else lived their lives, confidently thinking that everything turned out well. The lyrics also recognize that life is constantly changing, and things that were once certain can shift or fall apart completely.

The singers' confrontation with the truth, possibly about lies covered in the past, has changed their worldview, causing a shift in their thinking. The song's chorus reminisces on the impossibility of predicting how life could turn out, no matter how hard we try to live a perfect life, and how some things are out of our control. The bridge of the song talks of the singer's grief and how their world seems to be falling apart before their eyes. However, it ends with the hope that dark will eventually turn to light, and things will get better with time.

The lyrics of "And All Things Will End" are poetic and evocative, expressing the universal experience of life's unpredictability. The song's overall message is powerful and thought-provoking: we should take ownership of our actions and learn to live with the outcomes, both good and bad. We should also understand that life is never static and can be challenging, but hope keeps us going.

Don't judge a good guitarist by how fast they can play. You judge a guitarist by the way they express themselves through music. The solos that Syn makes are absolutely perfect and fit so well with the song and the emotion that it makes him on of the best.

John Fischer

Syn is a modern legend for sure. No one in the modern era captivated me on guitar like gates did.

Tegas

And he's fast as well

xXEastPride42Xx

Easily one of their best songs. Too bad it never got much publicity.

ayebeuy

Think it's because of a 2 minute outro

David Henderson

Skabora I doubt it. November Rain used to get cut off by radio stations, but they still played it up until the guitar solo. The real problem is that even the stations that claim to be "rock" these days, play a bunch of hip hop crap.

ClayDennison

+xXEastPride42Xx I personally think the outro is the best part.

LMC

Why? I can't really get why people like it. It's ear raping out of key guitar soloing along with out of time drumming

TimTheEnchanter

+xHeavenHelpUsAll7771x They do that on purpose. It actually quite cool and genius when you realize that it is representing the ending of the album

It’d be crazy if this was their final song performed live in their last performance before their retirement
