No More Heroes
Aviators Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're a stranger
I'm a native
In the wastes we're born afraid
We're born afraid
Hunt the wicked
Chase disaster
In the world our sin has made
I'm not afraid

Are you ready for the thunder
Are you ready for the freak show yet?
When the curtains hit the floor
I will leave you wanting more
So you won't forget
No more heroes left to save you
Just the keepers of the bleeding sun
When the sky above us fell
We descended into hell
Into kingdom come

Taste the venom
Feel the fire
I'm the outlaw in the wild
In the wild
Under crushing
Opposition
The immortal angel's child
Angel's child

Are you ready for the thunder
Are you ready for the freak show yet?
When the curtains hit the floor
I will leave you wanting more
So you won't forget
No more heroes left to save you
Just the keepers of the bleeding sun
When the sky above us fell
We descended into hell
Into kingdom come

Idols labeled sacred
Greed has left us naked
When the last stand comes
I'll take them on again
City underwater
Reddened by your slaughter
But the time has come
To meet your vicious end

Are you ready for the thunder
Are you ready for the freak show yet?
When the curtains hit the floor
I will leave you wanting more
So you won't forget
No more heroes left to save you
Just the keepers of the bleeding sun
When the sky above us fell
We descended into hell
Into kingdom come

Are you ready for the thunder
Are you ready for the freak show yet?
When the curtains hit the floor
I will leave you wanting more
So you won't forget
No more heroes left to save you
Just the keepers of the bleeding sun
When the sky above us fell

We descended into hell
Into kingdom come

Overall Meaning

The song "No More Heroes" by Aviators explores a post-apocalyptic world where heroes are no longer present to save people from danger. The lyrics describe the fear and chaos that exists in this environment, where people are born with a sense of dread and constantly hunt for wickedness and disaster. The singer of the song is a native of this world who has grown accustomed to the danger and is not afraid of it.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the absence of heroes, instead of referencing the "keepers of the bleeding sun" who are left to navigate this world. Despite the darkness, the singer still finds a sense of power in being the "outlaw in the wild" and the child of an immortal angel. The lyrics also reference the greed that led to the apocalypse and the idea that the singer will take on their enemies once more to end their tyranny.

Overall, "No More Heroes" is a powerful commentary on the role of heroes and the consequences of actions like greed and self-interest. It shows that without someone to believe in and fight for, people can descend into chaos and danger.

@@ledocteur7701 But even so, the truest of heroes will still fight. There's a quote in Lord of the Rings that sums this up perfectly; it was something along the lines of "Certainty of Death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?" Heroes don't always win, and some are not even seen as heroes. Take Vigilantes for example; they could be heroes to some, and menaces to others. Spiderman is the perfect example of this. But in the comics, even he dies in some storylines, but certainly not without a fight; but also almost braking his one rule and revealing his secret identity. He takes on the Sinister Six, after taking a bullet for Captin America and swinging to intercept them (at HIS house) from the Brooklyn Bridge. his last act before collapsing is repeatedly slamming a semi-truck on the green goblin. and his last words, " I did it Uncle Ben, I.. Did.... i--t...."

Certain death, zero chance of surviving, and still he fought to protect.

when people like that are no more, or people that can inspire people to do great things through their actions are no more, we can say, without a shadow of a dought, that there are no more heroes.

"But the time has come to meet your vicious end" I love the manner in which this is sung. As if the zeal the hunter once had is replaced with tiredness. That of a weary soul who is sick of war.
