Upside Down
Aviators Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't let the bed bugs bite
When devil tucks you in at night
I know the monster that you are
Can't hide from me, you can't run far
I've got my eye on you
Your vicious fangs can't hide the truth
You'd better hope, you'd better pray
That you aren't going to stay this way

Now where has your life gone?
Has everything changed?
Looks like you've turned to a darker page
You've scared everyone away
They're all starting to worry
'Cause hell hath no fury
Like your appetite

I've seen you wandering
I've seen you hunting
I see you in the shadows there
The way you fight, it isn't fair
I'm not your victim
I know where you came from
Wearing that malicious frown
I guess that's life when you're upside down

I know what you've been through
I knew you before you turned to
The monster that I'm hunting now
A killer I can't figure out
No, you're not in the clear
Unless I have you safely here
And forced to look at who you are
An animal who's gone too far

Now where has your life gone?
Has everything changed?
Looks like you've turned to a darker page
You've scared everyone away
They're all starting to worry
'Cause hell hath no fury
Like your appetite

I've seen you wandering
I've seen you hunting
I see you in the shadows there
The way you fight, it isn't fair
I'm not your victim
I know where you came from
Wearing that malicious frown
I guess that's life when you're upside down

Oh, you think that I'm slow
But I'm a hunter and I know
How to find you and I'll go
Far as I need to
Why do I hunt you? You may ask
It's a necessary task
Someone's got to do it
Right and apprehend you
You think hiding in the dark
And stalking like a shark
Will throw me off my mark
But you're mistaken
Think twice if you should escape
I will never hesitate
To cut short
Every breath you're taking

I've seen you wandering
I've seen you hunting
I see you in the shadows there
The way you fight, it isn't fair
I'm not your victim
I know where you came from
Wearing that malicious frown
Yeah

I've seen you wandering
I've seen you hunting
I see you in the shadows there
The way you fight, it isn't fair
I'm not your victim
I know where you came from
Wearing that malicious frown
I guess that's life when you're upside down

I guess that's life when you're upside down

Overall Meaning

The song "Upside Down" by Aviators is a powerful track that uses dark, haunting lyrics to describe a monster that the singer is hunting. The opening verse warns against the "devil" that "tucks you in at night" and suggests that the monster being hunted is unable to hide from the singer. There is an element of fear and danger in the song, with references to "vicious fangs" and an "animal who's gone too far". The chorus continues this theme, describing how the monster has "scared everyone away" and is driven by an insatiable appetite.

The second verse is more introspective, with the singer reflecting on how the monster used to be a different person before turning into a killer. The singer is on a mission to apprehend the monster, to "cut short every breath you're taking". There is a sense of determination and danger, with the singer proclaiming that "someone's got to do it right and apprehend you". The song builds to a powerful, emotional climax, with the repeated line "I guess that's life when you're upside down".

Overall, the lyrics of "Upside Down" paint a vivid picture of a monster being hunted by a fearless, determined singer. The lyrics tap into our deepest fears and anxieties, touching on themes of danger, darkness, and the struggle between good and evil.

I'm not even a brony, but this song is still just as enjoyable. This is why I like Aviators :)

@ShTHfan1

Most brony songs don't even sound like they're inspired by MLP. Just listen to Discord, Friendship, Constellations, From All Sides, Manticore, Castle of Shadows, Awoken, Between Fairytales and Happy Endings... Although Awoken is more based off the Rainbow Factory...
Anyway, they're all amazing songs that even non-bronies like you would like! To be honest, I sometimes have a hard time they're about a show meant for little girls, and this one's no exception!

@arcticpheonix3118

same here :D

@Lopsider

@Kb.animates

I haven’t watched MLP in years, but I’ve come back to say this song absolutely slaps and thanks Aviators for having an effect on my music taste even 5 years into the future :))

@strangess13

Man this one deserves way more love than it's gotten.  Even if it is a somewhat wild scenario, it's not totally out there.  all the Mane Six clearly have serious issues.  Which gives more than enough fuel for a monstrous transformation going very monstrous.  And you are so in touch with the horrible clawing emptiness at the heart of addictive hunger in places here.
