Avrigus first came into existence in 1990. Due to Simon's role in Cruciform and the Sydney metal scene it wasn't until 1998 that the very well received EP The Final Wish was released on Warhead Records. In 2001 the album The Secret Kingdom was released on Well of Urd Records, a division of the now-defunct Hammerheart Records.
In 2007 it was announced that Judy had left the band late in the previous year. Despite this Simon is continuing on with Avrigus and a new album called "The Hidden Citadel" is in the works. It was announced in August 2009 that Avrigus' new vocalist would be Megan Robins, whose partner Lee Tassaker (bassist/vocalist for Lycanthia) would also be providing vocals on the new album.
The Final Wish and The Secret Kingdom can be downloaded from their official site via BitTorrent.
3rd Of May 2010, the band announced that they will be releasing an EP called "Beauty And Pain" as a precursor to the album "The Hidden Citadel". "Beauty And Pain" will consist of 5 tracks with a running time of approximately 30 minutes.

Faithless traitors without rhyme, without reason
Yet, as ivy groweth green and never changes
Even evil cannot turn us into strangers
Wars, thus won, are lost to fate
Hand in glove with love was hate
To return to the source of the course of kings
Lords of light must find their wings somehow
Spread their creed of dread around
To reverse this curse comes the King of Kings
Lords of light must try their wings now...
The lyrics of the song As Ivy Groweth Green by Avrigus convey the theme of change and transformation amidst hardships and challenges. The first verse describes the entry of traitors into a community, which is often seen as a sudden and unexpected event that causes chaos and confusion. However, the second line of the verse suggests that these traitors did not have any logical reason behind their actions, indicating that their betrayal may have been driven by evil intentions or personal gain.
The second verse uses the metaphor of ivy growth, which is known for its ability to cling onto any surface and grow. The color green symbolizes growth and hope, which suggests that even in the face of evil and betrayal, good people can still come together and thrive. The lines "Wars, thus won, are lost to fate, Hand in glove with love was hate" suggest that even though wars may be won, they can still lead to further destruction and chaos. The song concludes with a call to action, urging the lords of light to find their wings and bring about change.
Overall, the lyrics of As Ivy Groweth Green are expressive and emphasize the importance of resilience, hope, and unity in the face of adversity.
