Avrigus first came into existence in 1990. Due to Simon's role in Cruciform and the Sydney metal scene it wasn't until 1998 that the very well received EP The Final Wish was released on Warhead Records. In 2001 the album The Secret Kingdom was released on Well of Urd Records, a division of the now-defunct Hammerheart Records.
In 2007 it was announced that Judy had left the band late in the previous year. Despite this Simon is continuing on with Avrigus and a new album called "The Hidden Citadel" is in the works. It was announced in August 2009 that Avrigus' new vocalist would be Megan Robins, whose partner Lee Tassaker (bassist/vocalist for Lycanthia) would also be providing vocals on the new album.
The Final Wish and The Secret Kingdom can be downloaded from their official site via BitTorrent.
3rd Of May 2010, the band announced that they will be releasing an EP called "Beauty And Pain" as a precursor to the album "The Hidden Citadel". "Beauty And Pain" will consist of 5 tracks with a running time of approximately 30 minutes.

Avrigus Lyrics

Measure for measure, tortue for truth.
Passion is my highest good.
Flesh and blood am I, my lord.
Lost to plan now, lost to purpose,
Won for better or for worse,
Watching moments of glory pass us by.
Passion is my highest good
Flesh and blood am I, my lord.
The lyrics to Avrigus's song Veritas speak of the struggles and conflicts that come with passion, pleasure, and truth. The first two lines, "Wounded by pleasure in flower of youth, Measure for measure, torture for truth," describe how the fleeting pleasures of youth can harm us and how telling the truth can be painful, even a form of torture. The desire for pleasure and the pursuit of truth are in constant tension, but to deny either is to lose a part of our humanity.
The next stanza, "Passion is my highest good. Flesh and blood am I, my lord," highlights the importance of passion in our lives. The singer acknowledges their earthly existence, their flesh and blood, and affirms their commitment to passion as their highest calling. The final stanza is a lament for missed opportunities and lost purpose. The singer is a lady-in-waiting, watching moments of glory pass them by. They are lost without a plan or purpose, and yet, they continue to hold onto their belief in passion.
Overall, the song Veritas is a poignant reflection on the human experience of passion and truth-seeking. It acknowledges the pain and struggles that come with pursuing these ideals, but it also reminds us of their importance in our lives.
