As a young teen, trying to find my way if life back 1977-1978 I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio in Seattle. Our only soul station at that time was KYAC, 1250AM, which was a low watt station, but strong enough to get the music out AND you into one of the neighborhood record shops in the central District and down in the Rainier Valley. Back then, music was very important while hanging out with friends and at the roller skating ring on Friday and Saturday nights where we went to try our best to make the girls smile and laugh. Now, I’m almost 60 years old, and those were some of the best time in my life.

Not that it really matters, but I'm a M-white (67) and my best bud (other than my wife) on the planet since we were both 12 in 1966 is a brotha. He went to Howard Univ. in the mid 70's in DC and then trans. to ASU in Phnx. I drove up one aftn. in a sweet Triumph TR-6 convertible to hang with him overnight in '77 and ohhh Lord.....we tore it up at all the best clubs until the wee hours. We drove back to his apt. and he had these home made cassettes from DC and NYC that had all the wildest, cutting edge cuts on 'em. He threw one on his stereo player and we smoked a bunch more weed and I passed out eventually. I woke up around 6am to that cassette still playing and I fully remember hearing this mind-blowing, multi-layered HAUNTING tune....THIS ONE. All the stuff on that cassette was bad ass, but this one by Roy Ayers just melted into my psyche and IT"S STILL there. Damn it's so good to hear it again. Takes me right back to '77 when my best bud and I were running buck wild and having nothing but belly-laughs and carefree times with different women every night as twenty-somethings that thought they knew all about the real world and were sure we could conquer whatever obstacle got placed in front of us....hahaha. I've been looking for THIS song for YEARS! Literal years. It was a song I heard in my childhood and could barely remember and I couldn't figure out the lyrics. And everything i tried to describe this songs to others Then my grandmother started murmuring the song a few minutes ago ans was like :" you know this song?". And I was like, yes! So I looked up the lyrics she gave me and here we are! Unbelievable how things come back to you sometimes.
