Overall Meaning

In Ayloul's song "Ya Rait," the lyrics express a longing for a simpler time, before the world became so divided by political boundaries and societal hierarchies. The singer wishes that they could have met the person they are singing to earlier, but feels blinded by the sun and covered in graffiti. They also confess that they have lost faith in love and question if the person really returns their affection. Despite this doubt, the singer still tells the person they love them, without expecting a response.

The chorus of the song is a wishful plea to live outside of traditional constraints: beyond maps and borders, before prisons and bombs are built, before society tells us what to remember and forget, and before we learn about left and right, rich and poor, and passports.
