Ayodele reemerged in 1999 with his solo debut album "Föder Nåt Nytt", under the name Ayo. The album was a success with hit singles such as "Betongdjungelboken" and "Många som väntar". His sophomore album was titled "Del 2: Uppföljaren" and was meant to be released in 2001, but due to further label issues it was never released. It includes singles "Det spökar" and "Ayooo". Ayo eventually decided to quit the music scene and converted to Islam. Today he lives in Dubai and works as an instructor for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He released one last song in 2011, on Swedish hip hop producer Stress's album "Playlist". On the song "Mitt beslut" ("My decision"), Ayo explains his decision to quit music.

Before
Ayo Lyrics

My mind is trapped in thoughts, there ain't no back door to escape
Everything was good before I started to feel that way
Before I slammed the door, before I cursed,
Before I scratched my face
Before the rain, before the hurting
Before the lies, the distrust, the madness,
When will these old wounds of mine stop bleeding?
And how long does it take before I start to heal?
After each time I break down, it's like my heart stopped beating
That's after the break outs, after the shouts, after the drain
After the rain, after the hurting
After the abuse, after the blues,
After I took off and threw my shoes
After the bruise, after the refuse,
After me freaking out and breaking loose
After the lies, the rage in my eyes, the torn, the blame,
After the pain
The lyrics of Ayo's song "Before" express the feelings of the singer who is going through a difficult time. The first verse talks about how they don't feel as good as they did yesterday and how their mind is trapped in negative thoughts without any escape. The singer is reminiscing about a time when everything in their life was good. But they realize that before things turned south, before they slammed the door, before they cursed and acted out in anger, everything was still okay. The chorus further emphasizes that things were better "before the rain, before the hurting, before the lies, the distrust, the madness, before the pain."
The second verse talks about the singer's deep emotional turmoil. They wonder when their old wounds will stop bleeding and how long it will take for them to heal. The pain they feel is so intense that it's like their heart stops beating after each breakdown. The singer has been through a lot - after the breaking out, the shouting, and feeling drained. They reflect on how things are only slightly better "after the rain, after the hurting, after the abuse, after the blues" when they have a chance to take off their shoes and regroup. The end of the verse talks about the singer freaking out, breaking loose after being bruised and refusing to tolerate the pain anymore. The chorus repeats to close out the song, emphasizing that everything was better before the lies, the rage, the tearing, the blame, and especially the pain.
Overall, the song "Before" is a powerful reflection on the pain of emotional turmoil and how it can color every aspect of our lives. The singer longs for a time when everything felt simpler and happier, but acknowledges that there's no turning back. Instead, they grapple with the aftermath of their actions and try to find a way to heal and move forward.
