It Hurts
Ayo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When two break up
One is left with a broken heart
It ain't easy to look up
Believe in love, have faith in god
'Cause when it hurts, oh it hurts
And there ain't no words
When two, two break up
One is down, frustrated and stuck
Trust me, it ain't easy to look up
Believe in love and rely God
'Cause when it hurts, oh it hurts
And there ain't, there ain't no words
There ain't nothing, nothing one can do
There ain't nothing, nothing you can do
There ain't nothing, nothing I can do
The lyrics of Ayo's "It Hurts" delve into the emotional turmoil of a broken heart following a breakup. The song introspectively speaks to the agony felt by the person who has been left with a broken heart. Ayo uses these lyrics to showcase the universal pain experienced by people in all types of breakup situations. She illustrates how the hurt can take away one's ability to speak or verbalize their emotions. The lyrics show that even though it is challenging to move on after a breakup, one has to believe in love and rely on God to heal the pain.
The repetition of the phrase "it hurts" throughout the song is symbolic of the excruciating pain experienced by the person. The chorus's lyrics make it clear that though there is nothing one can do to undo the breakup, there is still faith in the idea of love and the power of God. These lyrics reflect the idea that during such events in life, it is essential to have a spiritual belief system to help one find strength and solace.
In conclusion, Ayo's "It Hurts" is a melodic but soulful reminder of how the end of a relationship can leave a person struggling to cope with the emotional pain of heartbreak.
